Say, I was just wondering if anyone here would want to be a Solo Ice-Dancer someday? I have thought about it...and for me, if I couldn't get a partner. Then that would be next in line for me. What about you all?

@FSWer almost everyone who does ice dance is a solo ice dancer at some point. Not everyone competes in solo ice dance, but if you don't have a partner - like most ice dancers - you train on your own, and learn the compulsory dances on your own. Even if you're taking an ice dance test, usually you take it with your coach as your partner, or with a skater that you hire to be your partner for the test.

It is very difficult to find a partner with a similar skill level and style of movement, and who is a good physical match (e.g. not too tall or too short). Even partners that have similar skills and that look good together may not have the same goals in skating, or be able to train at the same time. It's also really important to like your partner. It's not going to be fun to skate with someone, or spend a lot of time training or competing with them, if you don't like them.

There's so many things that are important in a skating partnership, and some ice dancers never find a suitable partner. No matter how good a skater they are.
