World Juniors 2025 - Jr Women SP

Maybe she and her coaches will grow a clue and aim for a clean 3z+3t, plus improving her skating skills, in the SP next season...
Given her hit ratio, the 3A-3T combo is way too risky for the short program at junior worlds, especially with so much on the line (junior worlds and JGP spots for next year). USFS should have said something, or maybe they did but her team didn’t listen.

I dunno. It’s the 3a that makes her special. She still could’ve gotten carrots, ! warnings, and low PCS with a 3z-3t and barely made the FS in this field.

I was pretty disgusted with Yujae Kim’s score. With mistakes on every jumping pass, I thought for sure she would not qualify given how great so many skaters had done before her. I haven’t seen Von Felten’s skate, thought she bombed when I saw her score. Apparently not. Early start order? Amazed with a landed triple axel and a gold medal on the JGP she almost didn’t qualify. Elyce really came through. Bravo!

Sad for Jia. Love her skating. She looked great in the warm up. Haven’t seen Mao yet but looking forward to it because she is wonderful.

And I’m 100% for the age limit. I am so much more enjoying women at the top of skating now who are in their 20’s. Felt the same way about the U.S. women’s gymnastics team last year when all but one team member were in their 20’s.

I think Sophie’s start order will make it very difficult to climb far. She will have to skate lights out and even then not sure the judges will really reward her.

No, we do not need 16 yr olds competing in seniors. There is too much incentive for certain countries cough*Russia*cough to use whatever methods necessary to delay the onset of female puberty with their jumping beans. Raising the age minimum to 17 makes that it a lot less likely that those methods will be good enough to carry the skater into a successful senior career.

If Mao is as good as we see her to be then she will be around and quite competitive through 2030.

Plus how many Russian skaters have we missed in service to tiny girls doing quads? What would have happened to Anna Frolova if she emerged seasons earlier? Are there others with her artistry that we have missed who could triple easily but couldn't quad? I like the age limit.

I am way behind and only now watched the competition and so glad that I did and that I watched everyone from the first group on. That was an outstanding competition. I agree with everyone else here that Veronika Kim is a little firecracker and she would have deserved to make the free. Also enjoyed Gerke and was sad she did not make it. Was surprised that Lulu Lin and Kim made it into the free, that was not deserved, IMO.
Astounding how many clean 3-3 were there and that a lot of them did not make it into the free. That was well worth the effort to try to stay unspoiled!
