World Juniors 2025 - Jr Women SP

Sinisalo

3r-2t,3f, screechy rendition of “My Favorite Things”, 2a, nice extended positions and she skated big

LOL - even Ted agrees, in his very subtle Canadian polite trolling way "what a wonderful music choice."

So, Lahti is making her debut for New Zealand after switching from Finland. And probably not making the FS with a fall on the 3F.

Holy crap, that's a big bear. I'm with Ted... How does someone travel with a nearly life-size stuffie? Maybe the giver orders it on Amazon with delivery to their hotel in Debrecen?

Ghezzo

3t-3t, 2f with quick foot down, she has nice use of arms, dreaded V on combo spin, big 2a with proper landing, step up in musical engagement and performance quality

ETA: second toe looked massively underrotated on replay

yakoleva

3f, 3z-2t, this will always be Yagudin’s music, borrowing Stepanova/Bukun’s sit spin during the step sequence, competent and skated within her ability

Holy crap! Pezzetta had so much distance and speed coming out of the 3f she slammed right into the boards. Didn't fall, but that was insane.

Pezzetta

3z-3t leaning on to landing but saved, high, floaty 2a, 3f lands and curves into the boards! A ways to go on expression, nice basics, uncontrolled technique today, but no falls, so a win for her

Into the lead! Kalugina's reign ends!

(Did anyone see Kalugina? She must have been pretty good to have led for so long.)

Kaneshige

3z-2t, 2a, movement seems slo and somewhat stifled like she’s skating through peanut butter, fall on 3f, time for a coaching change

After 4 of 8 groups we have another ice resurfacing. Once the next group starts we will begin to see the Q appear. The standings so far:

Kind of interesting Von Felton with the 3A combo. But with raising of senior age limits it`s not so relevant to future USFS ladies. The norm is that these pre-pubescent 3A´s and 4`s drop out once the body catches up.

(Did anyone see Kalugina? She must have been pretty good to have led for so long.)
Watching now during ice make

Kalugina

Incredible speed; big 3z-3t but with that slight edge pull adjustment between jumps a la Eteri, 3f, nice flexibility, clean skate but some of the jump technique was sketch

And for good measure

Titova

3z-3t, 2a, 3f, moments where she expresses the dark, somber tone in music, nice and clean

Both skated more complete performances today than Von Felton

Hey squirrel friends woke up about 30 minutes ago and started catching up. First, I saw the scores and I was like Sophie must’ve bombed also with that score and then I rewind and she has a triple axle triple toe, double axle and triple flip. With only stepping out it seems like of the combination. So I’m like I don’t think it should be 53 points. She did plenty. Although her expression really needs to be worked on don’t get me wrong. She’s not as stonefaced as Chayeon but still. Even if she lost a level on a spin or something, I don’t understand how her score has regress that much since the fall although she is a free program skater.

Then I got to the meat and potatoes of the entire competition if not the entire season for everybody in juniors and seniors… Anna Pezzetta, oh my gosh. All of her triples need to be turned into quads because they’re uncontrollable as triples lol. Sandra B once said of Midori no surface is big enough for her and we can now say this about Anna. When she was doing that triple flip, I said she’s going to land in the audience. Talk about big powerful jumps that are in the air forever and travel so much distance. She is the most exciting female skater to watch right now.
