I tried today's, and it took me until the sixth guess to get a single letter . Didn't realize just how much the orange/yellow letters help!

Me too! It's a crapshoot until you have something to work with, but once you do it's not as hard as it sounds. I've found that if I get a hit even by line 4, the word usually turns out to be a possibility I've identified even if I ended up with not enough tries left to narrow down.

I didn't deserve this at all - got to a point where I had nothing left so I was just trying combinations that might be a word and there it was. Not a fun one for me!
