What place is your Antipode?

I can imagine why a silly cartoon like The Road Runner show, or Popeye, might lead gullible viewers into believing that on the other side of America lies China, why would the makers of the movie "The China Syndrome" think that, without a little checking of your every day globe? Anyways, go to http://antipodr.com to find out what place is your Antipode (spot on the opposite point of the globe). Mine's nowhere in the south of the Indian Ocean. Naw, I don't care to go for a swim there, not today.

That site is interesting but that's the other side of the world if you went through on an angle so that you end up in the opposite hemisphere - north to south & east to west - not if you drilled straight through from one side to the other staying in either the northern or southern hemisphere.

Yeah, I was trying to think, the opposite side, opposite end, and chose 'side' since a sphere has no end as such. Changed it to opposite point, which is less ambiguous.

I checked that years ago on the Great Circle Mapper - when you search for an airport there, you can see what's the farthest airport from there on a circle route.

So the furthest airport from DC is in Western Australia. When I finally get to Oz, I'll do it from Israel.

Be careful guys with sites which require you to give your full address or even zip-code under pretense of providing "some fun information". At best, they are doing it to target commercial literature, at worst....... who knows.....

I am not sure this site is providing us with any valuable info... imagine the globe and where your town/city is, draw an imaginary line through the centre of the globe, and you'll know where it must come out.... These apps don't give anything for "free", there is a catch.
