US whatever tests?

My figure skating coach (aka a 67y.o dude who has no ambitions and no expectations, thus he is able to `coach' us -a bunch of lazy 40+y.o) wants us to do some US skating tests. We don't mind, apparently there is a qualified judge on our rink. What escaped him is that none of us is a US citizen. Can we take the test while in Israel and not citizens?
(none of us really cares, but we don't mind entertaining the coach and taking the test if he wants us to)

I guess you'd have to refer to the section in the USFS rulebook pertaining to members of other feds?

For a long time US folks could take the Canadian 8th figure test and vice versa, but that is long gone now. I don't know if there's a similar thing for non-USFS skaters testing these days.

I don’t see any issue. You take the test, get evaluated by a qualified person, and either pass or fail. It’s not like you’re planning to enter a USFS qualifying competition. If anyone asked, I’d say I had passed the equivalent of test x.

If you're looking to take the tests for fun, as Aceon6 describes, then yes, it doesn't matter. If you're looking for your passes to be official, you would need to join USFS, either through a club or as an individual member, and the tests would have to be administered through a club (test session) or you could test virtually, where someone would film your test (list of instructions in rulebook/website) and submit to be judged...you get your results in a couple weeks.

The USFS judge in your area can't really judge you officially unless the test session is sanctioned (and only the first 2 levels can be judged by a single judge...beyond that, you'd need 3 judges). But if you're doing it as a fun, unofficial exercise, then no worries about any official stuff.

I don't think there is any danger of any of us getting anywhere near above the first 2 levels. And am not sure the 2nd level would happen

I like the idea of you all joining ISI and taking their tests. ISI would have no problem with your coach administering the tests (the coach would just need to do his thing with ISI), and you'd be official in the ISI system - if that matters to you.

If you don't care at all, and you're just doing this for fun and to see how you'd perform on the tests for personal reasons, then you can go ahead and have your coach take you through the USFS tests - it's just that they would not be filed with USFS, would not be official unless you become a member of USFS (which you can do, as an international member) and actually take a test with a USFS judge (which as others said, can be done virtually). If the qualified judge you mentioned is a qualified US Figure Skating judge, then it may be possible for your skating club/that judge to organize it as a formal USFS test session, but I have no idea how that works.
