U.S. Men 2025-26 Discussion - Quad God and the Mere Mortals

The thing to remember about the Selection Pool Calculation is that it is only one of 5 different ways a skater can be included in the Selection Pool for any ISU Championships.

I'm at the office starting my first day of work so I don't have my own Selection Pool excel spreadsheet handy for reference, however the Jr Worlds Selection Pool is not the same Pool as the Worlds/4CCs/Olympics Selection Pool. The Jr Worlds Pool DOES include the top 3 age-eligible finishers competing in Seniors as well as the top 3-5 (I can't recall which # it is off the top of my head) Junior finishers at Nats. Which is a roundabout way of saying that, yes, Jr results from Nats do matter - they just don't give any factored points from last season into this year's table like last year's Sr Nats, 4CCs, Jr Worlds & Results do.

Oh boy, so this vague document is only part of of the story? They could really use one unified document, this is too much to follow.

Capt. DeSoto, please just look at page 2 of the same document that already is in your earlier post, and read the entirety of the section, "Create A Pool Of Athletes To Consider."

For example, bullet point (B) says: "In addition to the Calculation of Overall Athlete Performance Data, the top five athletes/teams at the current U.S. Figure Skating Championships, top ten at the immediately preceding World/World Junior Championships and any athlete/team in the current season’s Top 24 in World/World Junior Rankings will be placed into the pool, if eligible, regardless of above score."

And bullet points (C) and (D) discuss other possibilities for being added to the pool.

Hmmmmm... that is the generic document for this season, but I am pretty sure the same selection pool process as was used for the 2025 Jr Worlds team will apply. I'll have to read over the new document more carefully this evening.

But, I would recommend reviewing the 2025 Jr Worlds selection document on this page -

Good luck with your new job! Your posts are very helpful and informative.

Just watched Jason’s free skate, love the costume.

Any chance we can persuade him to use the original of say something? Ooofff. I almost had to mute.

It’s such a joyful sport, but I feel depressed having watched that. I’m bummed out.

I love the version he’s using. I think it’s so much more powerful and emotional than the original. And I’m usually against covers.

And I never want to hear Mikhail’s music again! 🙉 He can be my last group bathroom break in Milan.

Lol, granted.

I don’t know… for some reason his free program music excited me, it was something I had not heard before…. also Lara jaws program music excites me, you know me I can’t do anything in the warhorse family, or even closely related to it.

Also, not into downers like fix you and say something.

I will say it’s probably one of my favorite costumes Jason’s ever worn. 🥰

By the way, I also really really love Piper and Paul’s freaky Deaky opera music, or whatever that was five or six years ago, trying to remember what the music was. It was like a Latin woman opera singer. That was cool.

And then again, I also really loved Amber’s short program music to Janet Jackson’s “this time.” I love that Janet included that opera singer in that track. But also I’m very very familiar with the “Janet” album having listen to it 1 million times.
