Now that the Olympics (FS) are behind us, can we talk about possible medal winners in Milan?

Here are mine ( assuming all OGM winners will compete there), but not in order.

Men:

Hanyu
Chen
Jin

(Add Shoma if Yuzuru is not there)

Ladies:

Medvedeva
Zagitova
Osmond

(Add Miyahara if one of these is not at worlds)

Pairs:

S&M
S&H
Stolbova Klimov

(Add T&M if one of these pairs is absent)

Ice dance:

P&C
Shibs
Hubell Donahue

(Add Chock & Bates if one of these is absent)

Chock & Bates wont medal. They are U.S #3. Even if 1 of those is absent both Weaver & Poje and Capellini & Lanotte will beat them for sure if they skate fairly clean, regardless how C&B skate, and possibly B&S too (although I dont expect them to go). Especialy with Worlds in Italy which will boost the scoring of C&L further and W&P returning to Canada #1 which will boost their scoring further. Anyway going through the events.

Pairs:

Gold: Savchenko & Szolkowy. I think Bruno will be determined to get a world title with doubts how much longer they will compete due to his back.

Silver: Tarasova & Morozov. I think they will come back determined after their dissapointing Olympics LP.

Bronze: Sui & Han. I think long term they will be fine but short term they will have a hard time getting over their narrow and heartbreaking Olympic loss.

Men:

Gold: Uno. I will be surprised if Hanyu skates. Assuming he doesnt Uno will win. Judges love him and give him inflated and undeserved GOE and PCS, moreso GOE, continously. Chen would have to skate 2 programs as perfectly as his Olympic LP to beat Uno even if Uno as usual makes quite a few mistakes, and Chen rarely skates even 1 program that nearly clean.

Silver: Chen

Bronze: Kolyada or Boyang

Dance:

Gold: Papadakis & Cizeron

Silver: Hubbell & Donohue

Bronze: Weaver & Poje or Shibutanis

Ladies:

Gold: Medvedeva. I fully expect Zagitova not to compete and rarely (or never outside of Russia) compete again, following in the footsteps of the last undeserved OGM lady Sotnikova who basically retired after her faulty gold. Zags will follow suit, watch.

Silver: Osmond. Since Zagitova is very unlikely to compete, silver atleast should be clear for Osmond, and it wouldnt even surprise me if she upsets Medvedeva for the gold. Her Olympics which is the closest she ever came to 2 clean skates will boost her confidence, and the judges respect for her will grow if she shows she can do it more than once which is the only thing holding her back from even higher score snow.

Bronze: Miyahara. Thanks to the inflated GOE on her tiny jumps she doesnt deserve. Could easily be Daleman or Kostner though.

Savchenko & Szolkowy? :)

You meant Savchenko & Massot.

Pairs- I like Savchenko & Massot chances to win, but really you cant count out any of Sui & Han, Tarasova & Morozov, or Stolbova & Klimov. I would love to see Stolbova & Klimov win, especialy hearing this might be their last worlds, or if not a medal atleast. It is amazing their only world medal still was in 2014, I am not sure if many realize that.

Men- I think it will mostly boil down to Chen and Uno, even if there are others with a shot. Chen might have the edge, but who knows. Bronze will probably go to Boyang, although he could either rise higher if either Chen or Uno falter or fall off the podium if he misses any of his jumps as he still relies heavily on his jumps and many guys can still beat his PCS and GOE.

Dance- Papadakis & Cizeron an easy win. On paper it should be the Shibutanis silver and Hubbell & Donohue bronze but I could see a surprise here, either H&D edging the Shibs or someone else edging H&D (or even the Shibs), maybe C&L since they are at home and I could see them having an inspired swan song and getting a 2nd world medal to go out with.

Ladies- If Zagitova skates it could be a Russian 1-2 again, but I could see Osmond challenging. Miyahara is not be counted out either. Nagasu if she lands the triple axel could be dangerous, but probably wouldnt get the PCS and GOE neccessary to medal even then.
