When the golden era of figure skating gathers to honor the great Tom Collins, there are going to be a few Instagram photos! I’ve been honored to cover and get to know all of these skaters over the past 30 years: Peggy Fleming, Dorothy Hamill, @michellewkwan @katarinawitt @brianboitano @nancyakerrigan ... We counted 14 Olympic medals at the party last night, including six golds.

Skaters don't age the way normal people do. They all look about 5 years older than they did in the 1990s instead of 25 years older.

Spending a lifetime inside at sub-zero temperatures must create a cryogenic effect, I guess.

Conversely, I work with retired competitive swimmers and surfers, and they all look like old luggage.

I just saw this thread title and thought I'd mention that the only time I went to Champions on Ice was right after Oksana Baiul got arrested and she couldn't be there! (I know 1997 - cause it was the January after I broke my leg, before I was even cleared to go back to work.)

Maybe. Brian Boitano had similar longevity.

I think Viktor Petrenko had the longest run in COI (there was a tribute page in one of the programs when he hit the 20-year mark.)
