The Shibutanis Thread Cinco...Mambo!

I don't think that was the reason. It had more to do with keeping pseuds under control. Anyway, back to the Shibs.

I really felt for Jun-Hwan Cha. He is so special and I thought there would be a big fuss about him. Those who were there loved him but they were way too few!

He was trending at #1 on Naver after his debut in the Team Event and a member of South Korea's longest running boy group and famous actor called him a 만찢남 which is slang for so "a man who looks so handsome he looked like he came out of a comic book." He's been getting some attention haha.

Really nervous for tonight but I think the Shibs's SD will be a huge crowd pleaser, Koreans will probably be very happy to see Asians represented and the energy of their SD is infectious. I can't wait haha.

Thanks for your "spoiler"! That makes me feel a lot happier! I agree with the actor/boy band. Some were criticizing his hair (probably because they didn't think he could see through it) but it really completes the look! :D

"Infectious" is a good word for the Shibs' SD. I hope the crowd (such as it is) gets into it and that some of the fans count along in Spanish!

I know the Shibs have done everything to prepare for the Olympic stage, but I am too wound up to watch in real-time. Where's the chicken emoji?

What?? Come on! If they can train for 14 years and get out there and skate on Olympic ice, you can watch them! Anyway, there's nothing to worry about. They will be great. Don't miss the fun! Uno, dos, tres...huh!!! (Not sure how to spell that.)

I’m hopeful that there’ll be a bigger crowd for the second day of team competition since it’s a weekend morning instead of weekday morning, during which many people may have been at work at 10am. Still, it’s early timing for the SD so the crowd might not get decent sized until later in the day during ladies and pairs.

I feel the exact same way and sometimes I do avoid watching live because of that but the Olympics don’t happen every day so I’m gonna squash these nerves and cheer them on live :cheer2::cheer2:

I’m just so proud of how far they’ve come and even more than the medals (and believe me, I really want the medals too ), I want them to leave everything out on the ice and have Olympic moments that they’ll never forget.

I know, SpunSilver, and I am deeply embarrassed:yikes:. But when I love a skater, all logic goes out the window. I was like this in Sochi 2014 for Davis/White. Of course, they skated brilliantly. I watched it on video like the chicken I am.

In my case I have to be grateful that this time I am worried about an ice dance team and not singles where everything is so unpredictable with the jumps, I tolerated enough with Mao, I took courage to watch her SP in Sochi and we all know what happened :wuzrobbed.

Yes, but if you skipped her FS because of that, you missed perhaps the greatest ladies' skate of all time!

It's OK, @suki. I'm sure Maia and Alex would be touched to know someone is that emotional about their skating! I hope you are overjoyed later on when you finally watch.

The only thing that worries me is how difficult it is to get the videos after the event.

I feel your pain, Chapis. I swear, you would think we are the parents and coaches of the skaters we love.

Thanks, SpunSilver. Of course I won't go any where else for information but this thread where I can be among fellow Shibs fans.

NBC has a graphic that they use to explain how the points work for the Team Event and I love that in the background is the Shibs in their Evolution costumes doing a few moves including their twizzles. They played it during Day 1 of the Team Event too.

OMG it’s almost time! :drama:

This is the same tech panel that called Finlandia, right? Didn't P/C score lower than they expected in the SD there too?

In the PBP, people are salivating at the idea that the Shibs' bronze medal chances in the individual are over. I just say let's wait and see who laughs last. There's still the FD tomorrow and we don't know how the Shibs will do in the individual and what they'll learn from this competition. Everyone scored lower than they wanted to, I don't know why those clowns don't think H/D would have scored like a 74 or a 73 as well considering the way everyone else who beat them or scored close to them all season in the SD has scored in the TE.

Even V/M didn’t score as high as expected. I think this is a tough panel. And the teams are still getting used to this super early morning schedule. The most important thing is that they bested B/S and C/L and took second place as expected. And they know what to focus on for the IE SD.

Good job Shibs! Not the score we were expecting/hoping for but job done for Team USA and great performance quality.
