The "A" Word

Does anybody else here watch this show?
We just found it on The Sundance Channel, half- way through the Second Season. Therefore, much of the backdrop storyline is a mystery to us.
We've read on the internet about Season One but one question we still have is about the character of Paul. His family (parents, siblings, etc.) are never mentioned. Does he have any? It seems to us that the comfort of that family connection might be a great help to this character's inner- conflict in Season Two.
Wondering if this show is renewed for Season Three?
