Tessa Virtue & Scott Moir # 47: Come What May...

They got L3's for both step sequences. Not sure how they can skate these more cleanly to get L4's.

I am a bit gobsmacked at this point that their circular step isn't getting L4s. Did anyone see a fumble?

No but maybe one of them missed an edge. I think both partners have to show very clear edges and turns.

J*sus, you guys are killing me. LOL LOL. The whole landscape changes for the next event. From here, I am going to trust their plan and their experience at the Games. They just won another gold medal. Let's celebrate.

And also, how annoying am I?

They got LEVEL 3 for BOTH step sequences...HOW??????????????????
I guess they need to improve this in less than a week now..

I hope you are right & that the next judging panel is better but then that means P&C get better marks too..

I'll have to rewatch. I was so swept up in it I wasn't paying as much attention to their blades as I usually would. The movement across the ice was stunning though.

I just wish the judging was consistent all season. Look at the skaters they look so confused with their scores. It’s like the panel is telling them they’re getting worse when that’s obviously not true. I’m so pissed about this honestly. But anyway congrats to team Canada and Tessa and Scott!

That’s a big problem.

I think their final lift wasn’t great. It ended too soon and was a bit slow. Congrats to them, two time Olympic Gold medalists!

Were you watching the CBC coverage? The camera angles were really bad on some of it. If I see one more overhead shot of skaters heads I am going to choke.

I was watching CBC and when they went overhead during their spin I almost screamed. WTF is that camera work?

Also, what does Scott keep whispering to her? I know it's none of my business but it's killing me not to know. LOL

I know it's naive to believe in fairness in ice dance but if the technical panel continues to be so strict across the board, it will be good for Tessa and Scott. It's obvious that VM are better technically than PC, so bring it on!! (Even many of their fans claim PC are the "artists" and VM the technicians. IMO Tessa and Scott are better in both aspects, but I know I'm "biased":p.)
I decided to think positive because, guys, only 2 competitive skates left!!

I'm so glad they've been out in front of these judges for both their programs, learning what they've got to work on so they are ready for the IE. They look so ready and prepared and it was a wonderful free skate but not as free as I saw in the practice video that was posted earlier in the week. My hope is that they skate that way in the IE. I wish them all the best. I'm so happy they have another gold medal.

They'll have to have essentially the skates of their lives to even have a shot, because P/C with errors were 3 points ahead at Europeans. I know, I know, different panels, but still. This shouldn't be the case.

I'm really glad they stuck to their guns with this one. I was sceptical, and it won't win, but they live it in a way I'm not sure they've really lived a program since Mahler. Tessa beaming at Scott at the beginning of Come What May and then Scott belting the lyrics to her three quarters through a massively demanding program got me quite emotional.

Ha! I thought it was just me....

Moulin Rouge has really grown on me, I wasn't sold at the beginning of the season, but it's so crisp, complicated and they skate the heck out of it.

That is not the CBC's fault, they rely on the Olympic feed done by the host country.

Congratulations, V&M. A fabulous skate.

I agree that the camera work at this competition has not been great. There's too much switching between cameras.

But yes, congrats to V/M - so well deserved!

Final lift looked fine to me I was watching on NBC. They basically almost maxed out on it so that’s not an issue. I want to know what else they’re supposed to do to gain level 4 steps. They keep reworking them and it looks fantastic IMO, but still not enough.

What? They had errors & were 3 points ahead? What were their scores at Europeans then?

I think those scores don't really matter though cause at the OG they always score lower across the field I believe, or am I way off base? lol

Also P&C didn't get great scores at their OWN French Nationals..I believe they got lower than V&M's season best right?

I just need to say that their score is the same as previous Competitions WITH this tough panel. Most other teams are 2-3 points below. Is that not an indication of an improved score, with this panel?

Well that makes me feel a little better! lol

203 overall at Europeans. The FD was great but not their best, and the 81 they got in the short was absurd.

I'm not going to think about it now. I'm just going to enjoy their last two competitive skates :)
