Tessa Virtue & Scott Moir # 47: Come What May...

I don’t know but I think they needed a world record. Now PC are gonna waltz in here and get a perfect score in the individual event because the stupid panel will realize they were too strict or something (seriously a level 2 rhumba what the hell). I don’t know I realize I might be overreacting but I’m a melodramatic person in general so apologies.

No, Tessa's choctaw was fine. They lost the other two keypoints. A bit mistifying... but I'm sure they'll figure out what went wrong.
Score aside, it was a great performance, I'm so proud of them.
I see that from the protocol. I also just watched it again and I am somewhat disturbed by the level 3 no touch step.

This is now the second time they’re getting a level 3 no touch step. This is VM we’re talking about here that’s what they’re known. All of this is just a head scratcher.

Haha. No worries, me too, lol.

If it was anything, it must've been Tessa's chocktaw. Marie France seems to think it was clean, which is...less good. It's the Sochi finnstep again!

They looked fabulous!!!!
Then I heard the score and I was sure I had misheard. WTH.
If ya’ll saying the judging was fine, but was due to tech panel, I’ll calm down.
What they did was they showed how on fire they are. I was not worried watching them.

On another note, what is with the poor quality sound on tv for the team event?

I have no idea. To me everything looked fine but it is 3 am for me;). However, the panel was consistent and tough on everyone. It can only help to know what the technical panel are looking for and what mistakes they saw.

I wish I could be as optimistic (this applies to all skaters, not just V/M). The issue is that calling of levels in ice dance (compared to other disciplines) is too subjective. Do the skaters/coaches get individualized feedback other than the protocols? If not, then it's not very useful. IMHO, the criteria used to assign levels in ice dance are fundamentally flawed if there is this much variability among panels.

Regardless of the judging, I'm going to try my best to enjoy their marvelous skating. Only 3 skates left!

I knew when the Shibs got 75 something that V/Ms marks would be lowish.

That said, a level 3 for the Straight line and level 2 for the rhumba is...interesting.

They did look gorgeous out there though.

Maybe the marks for the team event will always be lower than the IE...

So Tessa said the judges are the same for the IE event too which means exactly the same panel?
Is this good or bad..omg I don't know but am leaning toward good cause they will be tough on everyone I assume..

Why a level 2 & 3 though I mean this late in the season wth?

Right which means all the teams were being low balled so maybe no big deal..

I'm actually falling in love with Tessa & Scott more and more. :D I always thought they were great in their comeback in 2011 and probably should have edged D/W, but in 2012, no. D/W were better than V/M overall in 2012, although both teams were just so good and pushed each other. It was an amazing time for fans of ice dance, but so tough for those two champion teams.

I looked back at 2010 Olympics and it was nice to see what makes V/M so special, and to see how they've grown. D/W were right there in terms of ability in Vancouver and D/W had a boss SD, but V/M deservedly won. It's very rich to look back and then to see now just how wonderful V/M are. They deserve to strut their stuff. I've been kinda resistant to falling under their spell before largely due to some of their OTT fans. But they just cool. V/M have helped push P/C and that benefits the continuing evolution of the discipline. It will be a great battle to see the showdown in ice dance. :cheer2:

They were amazing. When was the last time they got level 2 in rhumba? I don't understand this... if they skate like this or better in IE and get scored lower than the French, then I consider judging to be unfair. I watched with Russian commentary, including Elena Ilinykh, they called V/M "heavenly".

Both Charlie and Meryl complimenting v/m on twitter.

That’s nice of them.

I do find it interesting that V/Ms marks are quite a bit lower here than earlier in the season. Usually in ice dance your marks go up near the end of the season as you perfect your programs. It’s fishy.

It's called cheating..

Ok so here is my take on what is going on...

V&M CLEARLY have the superior SD & the judges know it..as much as I love Ed Sheeran & those songs, P&C SD is not on any level to compare to V&M's..
However the judges or some of them are going to mark them so close because they want a competitive FD final..
IF V&M were judged properly for their SD they should basically be at least 3-4 maybe more points ahead of P&C after the SD making it almost a forgone conclusion they would win Gold..
In order for that not to happen & for their to be a real competition for the Gold in the FD..the judges are WAY OVERMARKING P&C on their SD therefore making V&M's SD not look as superior as it really is..

My only hope is that tonight in their team SD they skate so well the judges cannot deny them the marks & they get within 83-85 which they should be getting if they skate clean & well!
IF they get under 82 then we will know the fix is in..

The fix is in I guess...
Yes I am replying to myself...

It's fishy alright. And of course the panel will be admonished just in time to be lenient in the individual events. So there will be one team racking up the WR . . .

I really don't get the NtMiSt level...

Someone pointed out that their PCS is still lower than P/C's at GPF? Is that true? Because based on what I just saw, that's a bit of a joke.

I do like P/C's FD, but their SD is very clearly not on the same level. They should not be getting 82s with this lot, and if they do my eyebrows will fly straight off my head.
