Tarasova/Morozov Cheer Thread

I'm very nervous about them and I don't know if I can watch live even though the pairs events are at convenient times for me. There's no predicting pairs in general, and T/M especially. Worlds is usually one of their best events of the season, but they are rarely ever totally clean. There are too many factors to try to even predict. I wish I drank, because Worlds would go easier for me if I was :nopryde:

I’m trying hard to not think too much about any particular outcome. I obviously would love to see them win, but it’s been a weird season and I think that even if they are 100% clean, they’re up against some strong political headwinds that are blowing more towards the Chinese.

My wish for them is that they leave Stockholm happy and satisfied with their skates.

As A Pessimist it is hard for me to imagine a positive outcome. Yes the Chinese have a lot of politics in their favor. I don't think T&M will skate clean. They never do (they kind of did at the 2019 worlds but lost). I have to prepare mentally to accept whatever result they achieve.

These things are unpredictable. K & P beat the Duchesneys in France. Boitano beat Orser in Canada didn't he? (Was that Calgary?). You want to be realistic, of course the home crowd is an advantage, but there's no reason to feel defeated before it happens either.

Boitano beat Orser in Calgary which is in Canada. :)

I am in a class. Just taking a break to look up the results. I had a feeling they were going to skate poorly And they did. B&K will battle S&H for the title. B&K have fallen out of my favor somehow. T&M just cant get it done. I am so frustrated.

I’m gutted for them.

I read (via google translate) a Russian interview with Max and it sounds like they’ve had a brutal year with illness, trouble getting ice, trouble with funding.

I guess this was just not meant to be.

It's so weird how the results panned out, with B&K at the top and T&M struggling, it is like the last year was just erased. Like the little bit of momentum they had is just gone and it's back to what we expected at Worlds 2020. I am thankful they kept a place in the final flight, the other teams there are strong, but they have chances to keep their medal streak going.

It really does feel that way. Sigh

This is the interview with Max: https://fsrussia.ru/intervyu/5446-m...ag-gerb-no-rodinu-u-nas-nikto-ne-otnimet.html

I saw a comment elsewhere from someone who said (paraphrasing) as much as t/m have had to go through, they have to believe that one day they will get their big win.

It is really hard to believe that. Sure they had a rough year but they seemed to turn around. Now back to square one. I hope they won't give up.

There have been a lot of things in skating I didn’t think would happen but did eventually... some of it 4 and 5 years later after I wanted it for my skaters....

I hope they won’t give up either. I still think Marina was/is right about hanging on through 2026. This whole quad has just been chaos swirling around them constantly since the very start. They have the talent and skill. We know they can skate. I think what they still haven’t found yet is the perfect coach and training environment. They need calm and stability.

I have no clue what to wish for, hope for, or believe in for the fs tomorrow. There’s a blurb in the Russian press from Vladimir that they don’t have any big hopes or expectations for the FS. They’ll just skate for fun.

I am going to stop making any excuses. They are still my favorite pair but I have to learn to not expect anything from them.

I watched their SP tonight. Disastrous error on the sbs. How many times are we going to say that? A fall after three rotations would have been better. They skated rest of the program like they knew it was over. Bolero is a program they were most comfortable with.

I hope the issues with their music during the practice didn't impact them. I know part of the sport is dealing with stuff like this but I can't believe it happened twice (that I am aware of). Good luck in the free!

The FS music from last year was incorrectly played twice and then the missing cd with the short program music. Once is an annoyance, but multiple times.... Having to fix the music cuts into what is already a short practice time.

I think the music issues were an omen.

I sometimes wonder, if they had less tumultous years, if they stayed with Robin. He was their coach (under Moser's tutelage), when they made great progress, climbing fast the ranks. They are my favorite Russian team. I like the other teams, but T/M are the one I'm invested in. I really thought after their last outings, they've got a real chance for the title.

I’ve wondered the same about if Robin had continued to coach them. This quad really has just been chaos constantly swirling around them.

I think a lot of people thought and hoped this was going to be their year. Maybe they’re meant to win on some other day in some other year..... when there’s a crowd in the arena, their families can be there, and they can hear their actual national anthem and see their actual flag go up for them.

The downward spiral started at the 2018 Olympics. Robin was with them. Still I agree with you that continuity of coaching could have helped them.

I feel like what should have been a bad day/bad event turned into an ongoing problem because the coaching team behind them fell apart. They’ve been adrift ever since. A good, stable team behind them would have helped them move on from Pyeongchang in a positive way.

As far as today, I’m just ready for this to be over with.

IMO they should stick with Marina.she has made them a more interesting pair to watch.

I was wondering what might have been if Evgenia hadn’t had that leg injury last season and then things so disrupted by the crud. They’ve been with her on paper for almost 2 years, but it’s all been impacted by one thing or another. They’re planning on going back to Florida, but in so many ways this is still a new situation and it feels like not enough time for Beijing.

I hope t/m aim for 2026. They just need the time.

They will not medal here. They are too far behind the other three teams. I just hope they don't give up on themselves now and in the future.

I cant watch right now. I am in a class but from the pbp it sounds like it was another bad day for them.

They used to be so consistent technically! I remember 2016 worlds. I know Zhenya liked Nina as their coach. She needs to find herself. Her performance should not be so dependent on the coach. I would have loved for them to go to Moskvina long ago. They would have been world champions by now. May be they didn't want to move to St.Petersburg? Plus they were happy being in Mozer's group I think.

Not a perfect skate from Evgenia Tarasova and Vladimir Morozov - but they are the perfectly matched pair. And their qualities are just amazing, as it is their potential. Hopefully, they'll reach their maximum - because they have what it takes to stand atop of the podiums.

I sometimes feel like Rose Nylund talking about St. Olaf when I compare skating to showing cows.

I’m 2011, at the beginning of the summer, we thought we’d put together the best show string we ever had. We were so excited and hopeful. It was a long, hot summer though and by the time the state fair rolled around in August.... we ended up leaving half of what we’d planned to take at home and what we took didn’t fare well. It was almost comical. On the way home, Dad was laughing and said “maybe next year.”

The next year... we only took 2 cows just to go and hang out with friends. The next year, we couldn’t go at all because we didn’t have any help at home. The year after that, we went but another just more going to see people year. Then, in 2015, when showing cows didn’t even seem to matter because of my grandmother being so ill and only still going because my uncle told my dad it’s what my grandmother would want.... we had the year at the fair we thought we would in 2011.

Sometimes, things come when you’re not planning it on a different day in a different year.
