Survivor v32 - Brains, Brawn, Beauty v2

I wouldn't mind seeing Julia about six years from now. It would be interesting to see how she might be different than the 18 year old player.

Just gotta say- people should google Sia!

She is a true artist who has been around for far longer than Gaga. The wig is to enable her to make public appearances, because she developed severe anxiety and performance on stage issues.

She is quite a hero to my daughter and an amazing example of not letting mental illness ruin your life.

eta- I forgot to add that her popping up on Survivor was annoying and a waste of time though.

The only person from this cast I want to see again is Debbie

Debbie would be awesome. I was super impressed with how non-bitter she was about Aubrey orchestrating her ouster. I'd also be up for seeing Aubrey or Neil again.

Overall, a meh ending to an otherwise good season (well, aside from all the med-evacs too). I agree @KHenry14 that Michele will go down as one of the weakest winners, which is sad when there were so many players on this season.

But this particular "performance" was unnecessary and kinda fame-whore-y.

I've been familiar with Sia for a long time, and while I commend her not being stopped by anxiety and stage fright, her actions tend to direct a lot more attention and curiosity to her than anything else, which is a surprising MO for someone with performance-related anxiety. Other artists, such as Andy Partridge of XTC, have balanced their mental health with artistic output in less conspicuous ways. To each their own, but choosing such a showy OTT way of continuing in the public eye (and by following the highly-identifiable look of another current celebrity) means accepting the curiosity and comments about said methods. It overshadows her music, by a long shot.

Apparently that was a mistake; Debby voted for Michelle and Nick was Aubrey's second vote.

Bummed that Aubry didn't win :( The last few episodes were a bit meh indeed. The new season looks promising, though!

Congratulations to my husband for picking Michelle to win sole survivor - during the very first episode no less! His choice of prize: a two-night cruise around the Åland archipelago. I don't even mind paying because it's so gorgeous there! :biggrinbo

Fascinating!

Here's Aubry's exit interview on EW. Very even-keeled.

She does mention that Neal's jury exit speech may have rubbed others on the jury the wrong way, and possibly impacted their votes.

His bitterness surprised me. It's not like Michelle was responsible for his ouster to the jury. And saying that to a person who is already weepy does look like a big dog bullying a puppy.

Interesting. Funny that Nick didn't vote for his future girlfriend...but he did say way back in Neal's med-evac episode that he would rather hang out with Aubry than any of the other women and he's also someone who was a big fan going in so it makes sense that he would vote for someone who was more of a player.

I enjoyed the season. Maybe not the best winner, but I am ok with it. Michele was not a goat. In reading over at previously.tv - you would think Michele did nothing. I think she did play, kept herself in the game, won key challenges, used her advantage well and played a good social game too. I hate when people downplay the social game. Given any jury and how bitter they can be - it is important.
But also in what I am reading -not surprised about the editing - but makes me curious about Cydney - sounds like she and Aubry were more equal than shown.
It will be nice to see some of these folks back, just not Scott, Jason, Joe or faux Obama.
Aubry - would be such a target if she came back.
I agree - someone like Julia in a few years, would not be considered a huge threat - could do well.
Debby, Caleb, Tai, Cydney and Aubry should be invited back.
Reunion show - they do so little. I did not remember some of the people in the back row.

Apparently Cydney WAS invited back to do the next season and she turned it down.

Interesting - and they did not talk to her during the reunion show (that may not mean anything as they had to plug Price is Right and have Sia on).
Maybe she will come back in a later season.

It's interesting, Cydney vs Aubry - I think Cydney had an even better game than Aubry, but her moves weren't as visible, and the ones that were resulted in people sitting on the jury who weren't likely to respect the play that got them there. Early in the game I was worried that she always seemed to have the ideas or the information, but she'd pass it along to someone else who would act. That changed after the merge, but I'm not sure other players saw how great her game was.

Considering that Cydney was a big part of the season from the very beginning, and made it to F4, I don't see any legit reason for them to have completely ignored her at the finale.

ETA: when I said earlier that Debbie's the only one I'd like to see again, that wasn't entirely true. I would welcome back Cydney or Aubrey - but I think they both would be voted out quickly based on this season.

I found the whole finale to be rather unsatisfying. Abry wusrobbed big time and I can't believe that Tai didn't get a single vote. Oh well.

Probst responded on Twitter that it was just an oversight and there simply wasn't enough time. Yeah! Right!

So then, why not make time? It seems every season, there isn't enough time for a proper reunion show and something gets left out or someone is snubbed. Why not split the finale over two weeks? First week is a one-hour episode where they lead up to the penultimate tribal council. The second week, the final 3 are revealed and the first hour can be spent on on the final tribal council and then have a decent two-hour reunion show.

Heh. When Survivor was first on, Bryant Gumbel and then Rosie O-Donnell hosted the finale show and people complained that they only talked to certain members of the cast. Then Jeff started doing it and he made it a point to let every single person in the cast say something--maybe not much, but something. Then a few years ago, Jeff started talking only to certain people--and who can forget the infamous year that they didn't have the entire cast on the stage? :yikes: It's also become more of a circus, with Jeff going into the audience to talk to various people for whatever reason, and there are more commercials, both of which cut into cast time.

I would like to have heard from Cydney and I would have liked for Jeff to have called out Scott and Jason for their behavior a whole lot more than I wanted to hear some of the other stuff that went on, but...there you are.

So true - remember when Russell Hantz was on a 2nd time - the others had not seen his full season - so he had an advantage.
There are so many people like Aubry and Cydney that if they came back - would be an early target, so it would be a disappointment. Unless all the people were people in that category.
Like I said earlier, someone like Julia, if in a few years, she matures - people may just remember the 'youngest' player and she could be under the radar and not perceived as a threat and could go far.

Back to reunion show be too short/not enough interaction with folks - so true. Add an hour.
They have a goldmine, milk it!!! That is why sharing on forums like this and previouslytv do well - we know we are not seeing everything.

So sweet that Tai was there, and Anna.
I saw him on BB - and it does seem like he has matured a lot. Nice to see.

ITA the reunion was disappointing. Maybe if enough complain they will do something about it next time. After the Caramoan reunion (where half the cast was on the stage because of "stage area issues" and only ~6 people actually said anything) Jeff had said that that was probably going to be the norm from here on out, but after enough complaining they brought everybody back on stage.

Just too many interruptions and not relevant moments. The live vote read doesn't begin until about 5-8 minutes after the top of the hour, and then there's a commercial so by the time they actually get the reunion stated, 15 minutes of the hour are already up. I love Drew Carey, but we didn't need an interview of him, even if past contestants will be on TPIR this next week. We didn't need seconds wasted when Cochran had to be found in the audience and shown on screen. As wonderful as Sia's gesture was, that really ate up way too much time. And Tai isn't exactly the best at speaking to the point... All of that and instead they could have talked to Cydney and gotten to some of the other contestants. Plus the teaser for next season was twice as long as it really needed to be. We get the concept, package the promo footage for the commercials leading up to the season starting.

Bah.

I don't like the current format. I have only watched one another season and in that final everyone received a question. I liked that. I thought "Blondie" should have had a chance to chastize Scot and Jason for their sexism. And I would have liked to hear Jason and Scot reply. Little things happen over a season that viewers don't forget and they should be addressed in the finale.
