Well, I quite enjoyed that and the judges need to give Yakovleva whatever PCS boost necessary to keep her ahead of Safonova! She deserves her Olympic moment and Safonova's already been 4 years ago.

Yakovleva gutting out the jumps but she’s holding up under pressure better than most of the skaters before her. And she’s at least attempting something in terms of a programme, so I’d give it to her on the second mark.

I don't think so, with Ted telling us about the q and < calls - her TES was about 1.5 points lower than Safonova and she only had that much of a lead. She needs PCS and she didn't get it.

We'll see what the tech panel does with some of those jumping passes - Zhang's TES should drop based on what I saw. I'd have her behind Yakovleva in the FS, but she'll probably get the host PCS bonus and eek through into the final Oly spot.

Pressure can crush some, but Ruiyang fought back in the 2nd half of this program to make it good.
