Skate sharpening in Philadelphia area

Can anyone recommend professional skate sharpeners in the Philadelphia area? Jersey burbs preferably. Klingbeils with Coronation Ace blades. Finally ready to dust them off after a decade off and maybe work on some basics again. (They still fit post babies yay!)

I already emailed some local clubs seeking information and got crickets. Even sadder that I also was inquiring about lessons for me as an adult…….

Your options are:

• Frank at the Skatium: Fine, but watch your toepicks.
• MF at UDel: Excellent, but check his schedule.

Both are walk-ins only, so the earlier you show up, the better. Otherwise you'll be waiting around a bit.

Generally speaking: No responds to email around here—you have to use the phone numbers on the respective website to text/call.

It is also August, which is historically when rinks shut down for maintenance and no one is around.

Not worth it. Everyone who was excellent at sharpening is either retiring or left the area entirely.

@masik Respectfully, as someone who used to get their skates sharpened at SCW with Andrew I do know what I'm talking about. When he left, I queried numerous area coaches and skaters. I've tried pretty much everyone in the Greater Philly/NJ/DE area over the past 4 years, and those are the two I frequent the most. They're the two most folks go to and actually bother to respond to phone calls/messages.

Again, reading your message tells me that you have absolutely no idea about the current state of SCW. Sharpening is done daily, as well as other services that are provided at the top level, and that’s only a phone call away. Have a nice day!
