If the French are coming, Piper and Paul at best get a silver. Not sure why they’re risking it.

Third place is $45,000 USD prize money; second $65,000. That isn't a bad payday as they ride off into the sunset. I suspect Chock and Bates may show up, too, for this reason.

Despite a close contest in Milan that came down to which judges were selected + some outright cheating, at this point the mood has shifted, FB&C are "anointed," and they probably can't be beaten for the next four years if they stay in. That said, ice is slippery and they have a tendency to fall or make serious mistakes. Although the panel and the judges tend to ignore most of their mistakes, they can't ignore all of them.... Or perhaps we'll end up with a caller who will ! or < them. :EVILLE:, or a bloc of screwed-over federations who will seek revenge. Here's hoping. I wouldn't mind seeing Gilles and Poirier (or frankly any other team) with the gold around their necks.

I'd laugh for days if we saw a situation where GilPoir and ChoBat both beat FBCiz due to obvious mistakes the panels can't overlook; but based on RD and FD scores all season, I think it's still a sizable hill to climb for GilPoir to beat FBCiz even with the latter having errors.

I suppose, for both teams, doing right by their feds one last time to ensure 3 teams for next season could be part of the reason for showing up along with the decent payday. Both will be just fine in the end as they're booked for SOI Japan and then their own domestic SOI tours.

Just to be clear with the cheating, are we blanketing the +4 and +5 GOEs for twizzles (five of them) for this?

His free foot is mere inches away on that final swing. Look how far apart they start. CLEAR negative feature.

My guess is that Fear/Gibson would be better placed to take advantage of mistakes because how much training have the top 3 teams been able to do while enjoying the Olympics?

OTOH, they are rather prone to mistakes as well.
