Well reading back through this thread I see that the Orleans was a wealth of misinformation. No they were going to sell hard tickets at the ticket office were they? Yeah they’re selling them.

Oh and you can have things in your plastic bag that aren’t clear. They never even looked at my plastic bag.

I actually liked the venue in 2019, but and then so into years service has gone downhill and process it gonna fail. I’m probably done

And the fact that the hotel charge the resort fee but can’t bother to clean your room pretty much tells me that they don’t ever need my money again

I didn’t think the Orleans was so bad. It is what it is, and a lot of hotels have adopted the cleaning room upon request only since the Demic. Granted I’ve only spent most of my time at the Orleans sleeping and going elsewhere for fun in-between the skating. The ticket stuff at the box office was a nice surprise and I had my Ticketmaster transfer issue solved by some seriously nice box office people. Just don’t eat the gumbo at Big Al’s Oysters. The second worst meal I’ve had in Vegas.

Has anyone tried out "Lotus of Siam" restaurant yet? I am dying to hear others' opinions! My friend's Chinese cooking is restaurant-level to me, and it's her favorite restaurant in LV. I'm interested to hear others' impressions.

Hehe. Yep, it is lowclass, tacky, and the worst of Vegas to me. That's probably why I'm okay with it and kind of like it!! lol
Yep! There’s a sort of authentic real smokey Vegas to feel to it. More Golden Nugget than “adult” corporate Disney World style night clubs disguising themselves as entertainment centers that exists on the Strip. Both are garish and tacky but in different ways.

Oh no this has nothing to do with Covid, this is called savings.

If you can open your casino fully, open your theatre, open your arena etc. don’t use covid as an excuse for service cuts. Or at least cut your “resort” fee

Hotels have discovered this is a great way to save money. 5 years from now some will be using the same excuse

I think you’re totally right. The thing was just an excuse to start more cost saving and price gouging measures. It’s like the airport now.

Hehe! I grew up ten minutes from Atlantic City. So not only do I have the South Jersey trash in me, but the Atlantic City tackiness!! I love AC!!!! They should host Skate America again! That was an awesome competition. I felt at home. lol
Do you mind if I ask where you grew up? I am the next town down from AC.

Even after the announcement someone started to walk down the aisle during C/B’s RD and I was going to tackle them but the people behind me yelled at them to sit first lol.
I volunteer at the MLB Spring Training games in Arizona. I've been fighting for years to have the ushers stop visitors from going down the aisles when a player is at bat. It's been a losing battle. Thanks for getting the announcement made. It's not fair to the skaters and audience.

I liked Vegas so much I'm staying here overnight. Just kidding. They delayed and then canceled our flight. And have not told us what to do about it. But, hey, I have a $100 credit on a future flight! This isn't the first time they've canceled a flight. Why aren't they tell us where our luggage is and how to get it and offering us a voucher for a hotel room? (There aren't any other flights tonight so we're stuck here until morning.)

USFS would make a fortune if they sold clear bags along with the SA merchandise. Also, I wish arena security was as diligent about keeping spectators from coming down the stairs during skaters’ programs as they are about the clear bag polic
Are the exhibitions tonight?
Yes. I got back from the exhibitions about half hour ago. They were good. They included as many skaters as possible, regardless of their placement. Since the SA field is small compared to worlds/nationals, it worked. They tried to include at least One skater from each country. So we got to see Frenchman Fa, Czech Brezina, some low ranking US skaters, etc. (Example ice dancers Molly C. And Yehorov, Liu/O'Shea, etc.). I don't think there was anyone from Italy In the Ex.

I don't see a thread for the gala in the KC forum. I will post a comment after someone starts it.

The USA and Russia split the gold medals 2-2. Russia added a silver (ladies) and a bronze(pairs). The USA added the ice dance silver and men's bronze. Japan got two silvers (men and pairs). The Japanese pairwas a no show. I don't know why.

I was deeply impressed with Amber Glenn's performance (in both the short and long). It looks like she and her team are taking a step by step approach to the season.

In her first competition this season (coming back from a foot injury) she only skated the SP. In her 2nd competition, she skated both programs with reduced technical content and at Skate America she skated clean with a 3/3 in both the short and the long. The next step would be to add the triple axel (she did some amazingly clean ones in the practices in Las Vegas) in the short or long or both.

I thought Amber was robbed by the judges in her PCS. She should have been much higher in PCS (at least at the same level as Trusova - I actually think that Amber pays more attention to the choreography than Trusova does and I saw more transitions in Amber's program). It's obvious that the judges don't actually evaluate the PCS of the skaters but just award PCS based on reputation. It's a shame.

People were walking down and walking through rows to get to their seats while the skating was going on. I thought it was rather rude. They should have waited until the performance ended.

It was Alaska but it wasn't their fault. The Bay Area is completely hosed right now due to something called a bomb cyclone. The road to our house was closed due to rocks and debris, the freeway is closed too because of flooding. And there were power outages everywhere.

The only issue I have is that they are only giving us a hotel room for 1 night. They will pay for the other nights after the fact but we are about to be kicked out of our hotel because they have no rooms! Apparently, Vegas is totally slammed with people. So now I have to find another hotel room and work on getting an earlier flight.

It’s even raining all day in LA today. Which is good, we really need it

That sounds awful. My shuttle driver mentioned a storm in CA but I didn't realize it was in the Bay Area. My niece who lives in the Bay Area is visiting the east coast right now. Lucky girl.

Sorry to hear you are having trouble getting home early. Hopefully things will settle down soon.

Vegas had way too many things going on this weekend. The Uber driver told me that there are no slow times in Vegas anymore.

Hope you make it home safe @MacMadame, thanks again for planning our meet up.

The Orleans had softball tournament teens staying this weekend along with a poker tournament. Then I noticed tennis players checking in yesterday so that tournament must be happening this week. Definitely no down time.
