Also wondering what happened to Boriantseva/Pleshkov, Murkhortova/Evgeniev and Denis Khodykin. I didn't expect Denis's partnership with Sobinina to last because she has quit due to injury like three other times in the past but he's a competent pair dude so you'd think he'd have a pick of partners.

MukhEvg are listed.

Honestly, the singles lists are a bunch of skaters who've been around awhile now - not a lot of new or unfamiliar names. One has to wonder where the up-and-coming skaters are also. How will the Russian fed manage to fill another fake-GP series this fall with only 10 men and 9 women?
The whole point of the isu ban is to destroy skating in Russia and surprise with no future skating is being destroyed there

well b/p already confirmed split, and sobinina/khodykin didn't qualify to nats last year so they wouldnt have made test skates anyways

Scherbakova/Goncharov have been together for quite a while and they have medalled at the past 2 Junior Nationals. I think this will be their senior debut but don't hold me to it.

In case anyone is curious this is them from last year:

Huh, that didn't completely suck choreography-wise.
Choreography was okay, but I am ROFLing that the dance Anna Shcherbakova also appears incapable of extension and turnout. I don't think I'll miss this team if they never compete internationally.

so either Chikmareva / Yanchenkov, Artemeva / Briukhamov are injured, split, or changed nationalities
Chikmareva has injured her knee, Artemieva/ Briukhanov didn't get a medical clearance (no specific reason mentioned).
As for changing nationalities - so far only Akopova/Rachmanin are rumoured to do so but surely not before RFSF meeting in December

I haven't followed closely, but I believe Sobinina/Khodykin took part in some shows recently. And she also had some ongoing health problems, that's why they didn't compete often last season

🤔 Maybe Anna Shcherbakova should get some coaching from Anna Shcherbakova. It couldn't hurt.

Not that I really care if Russia ever again competes internationally or not, but these characteristics of someone's skating can be improved, especially if they're a junior team, which seems to have been the case up until last year.

Since Putin came to power, he has ruined sport in Russia, including doping, mediocre and corrupt coaches, who pick and choose athletes for their social standing and appearances with no talent. I for one do not miss watching Russian skaters any more for this reason. Ice dance which used to be a strong event is now more of a beauty pageant. I also don't like the way the female dancers in particular look so scrawny. You cannot be twenty plus years of age and have a body of a thirteen year old. And please, don't get me started on the women's skating.

Since I haven't watched these folks in 2.5 years, sorry for the ignorant questions. Did the little spitfire in pairs who couldn't do triples retire? I liked her. And where is Kosternaia and partner?

Yes Panfilova retired. And I think Kostornaia and Kuntisa are listed.

Panfilova/Rylov retired due to his shoulder injury. They've been doing cruise ship shows last I heard. Kosto is convinced they are going to be the next pair stars. They have a very, very long way to go to reach that.

Trusova-Ignatova has at least one of her 4-3 combos back (after not competing since the Olympics) and Maria Zakharova is back after missing the last two years due to a stress fx in her leg (Tsareva's daughter). She's landed a 4T-3T in practice. Not all skaters who will be in the internal comps are invited to the test skates. It's typically only those who were top 10 at the previous nationals. Sasha and Akateva are exceptions this time for obvious reasons. Sasha had a big falling out with Channel 1 so doesn't get invited to do the made for TV comps. But, she's testing the waters in the event Russian skaters are allowed to compete at the next Olympic games.

Russian skating shitshow: Rudkovskaya suing a skater (or, rather, a skater's mom) for 1.8m rubles (no idea whether it's 5$ or 50000$ today) and winning the court case. Apparently the 12y.o mom (single mom) signed a contract and breached it. The skater went `back' to Tutberidze after 3 years with Pluschenko.
The debt is 21K (USD equivalent) and apparently AoP only went to court because the skater wanted to go to Tutberidze's rink. Their words. Tutberidze has organized a benefit open practice/autograph session with all her current skaters to pay the family's debt. If they sell all the available seats in the rink, it will not only pay the debt but provide quite a bit for the family. All proceeds go to the skater and her family. The Russian social media is skewering Rudkovskaya. This was an 8 year contract the parents signed when the father was gravely ill (he subsequently died). Making parents sign an 8 year contract for a child to skate is ridiculous to start with.

Angels of Plushenko is such a shitshow that keeps giving.

I'm lovin' it.

They should get their own trashy reality show. We already had a season of "Yana Super" which was beyond everything that made me cringe in my life, but an AoP show would probably beat everything.

In any case people are responsible for papers they sign.
Her mother is a full adult.

Why she didn't read the paper carefully before signing it?

She understood what the words 8yr mean

I saw those ads because they are everywhere on Instagram. It says part of the proceeds will go towards the debt, not all. At 10 thousand rubles a piece, if they sell all the tickets Eteri will have a lot of pocket money in one evening.

I read that they would get all of the money, but that's the internet. But, at least the family won't own AoP a lot of money.

Eteri promised today to cover the entire debt regardless of the ticket sales. I hope this child will have the strength to endure. AoP seems like chaos central, while ET is as serious as a heart attack. May God help this child.

I confess I do miss Trusova. She is certainly not without her issues but I always looked forward to her skates.
She had guts. I never thought the Russian girls had "artistry", so I looked forward to Trusova simply to see her going all-out. I'd never rewatch her performances, but it was nice in terms of skating being a competitive sport.

And it was kind of ridiculous to see people saying she never had anything but jumps or whatever, or she never improved.

Stunning FS from Boi/Koz this season. Innovative and difficult lifts, level 4 twist and their SBS jumps and throws were perfect at the test skate. I've never seen a pair team this polished this early.

And, of course Mis/Gal respond with hold my beer and skated brilliantly. I personally prefer B/K this season, but that's just preference.

The most improved award goes to Kosto and her hubby. She's stunning and they have made huge progress in their pair elements over the summer. It's really quite remarkable how much they've improved.

ETA Now Kunitsa is saying they're having personal issues and not certain they'll compete. Maybe they should go the Stolbova/Klimov route and skate hating each other. It worked for them today.

Yes, she does, however, she really does have the potential to be a top pair skater and I never thought I'd say that until seeing how much she'd improved over the summer. But, her partner has to accept that she's going to be the star and that's not easy to do.

You know I mentioned this last year when she really started and there was quite a bit of she’ll never work hard enough type of thing and I thought no I think she’s really serious about this. She’s clearly put in a lot of work and that free, while not perfect, shows an incredible level of improvement. I hope she and hubby can work it out because like last year, she seems more settled in herself at least than she was and clearly has pairs potential
