Skating is so dead it’s like all marriage and baby news as people move on from a sport that doesn’t provide anything
But I wasn’t a big fan of the current crop,
Nope not at all.You obviously have an extreme hatred of Russians
False. Almost the whole world opposed the Iraq war. It was US UK and Poland. It had nothing to do with 9/11Nope not at all.
All wars are not the same. Putin’s horrible and totally, absolutely unprovoked war against Ukraine, a fellow member of the ISU, shocked the conscience of most of the free world.
Most of the free world joined in the Iraq war because of the 9-11 attacks….right or wrong. Also, maybe ancillary, but was Iraq an ISU member at the time?
Not to mention, repeated systematic Russian State doping of athletes and use of athletes as political props for Putin’s continued dictatorship and power.
It all boils down to Putin bringing this on to his own people. Blaming the ISU, U.S. or IOC or anyone but Putin is severely misplaced. He is making his own people suffer for his own ego and power/reign of terror.
But they are not suffering anywhere close to the people of Ukraine. My thoughts are with the Ukrainians!
If Olympic truce means no war actions are ever done during an Olympics than violators include United States ifrom 1964 to 1976 and 2002 to 2016, Israel 2024, Soviet Union 1956 and 1968 and then 1980 to 1988. And of corpse Russia in 2008 and 2014.Russia is banned for it's violation of the Olympic Truce. That is the action that resulted in the ban.
Please describe another country that violated the Olympic Truce and was not banned? The rest is false equivalency.

I was trying to but it was all news about births and weddings and now it’s like is that all Russian skaters are doing now? Getting married and having kids because there’s no future in skating because of ISU permanent ban.I
Is this a political forum????
Shouldn't we be reading something about figure skating in each thread?
More single men (10) than single women (9).Speaking about Russian skating, here is the preliminary entries list of skaters who will take part in the test skates. Test skates are scheduled for next weekend, September 12-13

Something tells me this isn't a feature exclusive to Russian skating...Worst thing about Russian skating for me seems to be that too many people involved dont see the skaters as humans.
True, but the need to appear caring and responsible keeps some coaches in check, with obvious exceptions like Dalilah.Something tells me this isn't a feature exclusive to Russian skating...
I can do it when I get home if no one else does it before then!Does somebody have a translation of the test skater names please?
found this list over at Golden Skate - looks pretty accurate to me based on my cursory knowledge of the Cyrillic alphabet.Does somebody have a translation of the test skater names please?

Honestly, the singles lists are a bunch of skaters who've been around awhile now - not a lot of new or unfamiliar names. One has to wonder where the up-and-coming skaters are also. How will the Russian fed manage to fill another fake-GP series this fall with only 10 men and 9 women?Seven pairs is kind of a low amount for Russia isn't it? Most of their mid ranged skaters have gone to other countries by now.
No, different girl with the same name.Is that the Anna Shcherbakova now doing dance? ?
thanksNo, different girl with the same name.
The thought is rather hilarious, isn't it?Is that the Anna Shcherbakova now doing dance? ?
IndeedThe thought is rather hilarious, isn't it?
Huh, that didn't completely suck choreography-wise.Scherbakova/Goncharov have been together for quite a while and they have medalled at the past 2 Junior Nationals. I think this will be their senior debut but don't hold me to it.
In case anyone is curious this is them from last year:
