Programs that jumped the shark?

Totally agree about Jason and “Old Friends.” That was terrible. So many other good S/G songs Tracy could have chosen.
Although I wouldn’t classify it as my definition of jumping the shark (has to have a shocking/bizarre tone along with being a bad idea), this Jason program was a big head-scratcher. Brilliant skater with music from a brilliant musician, and chose obscure subdued music from said musician while skating a non-dynamic subdued program. Fail.

I'm not a fan. However, I don't think they are "jumping the shark" level - just not my cup of tea.
Come now. You are a poster with brains and taste. The costumes, Gilles' facial expressions, the elaborate entrances and exits to the ice, the effusive acknowledgment of Canadian audiences' standing ovations -- their RD's sailed far over the shark years ago.

Well, when you put it that way....

Bourne & Kraatz '00 FD to Harry Connick Jr.

And their OD costumes from '00 Skate Canada I think we titled her outfit Little Bo Peep Hooking Costume or maybe I did. Can't recall who owns that perfect description to her costume.

Also have to add Alegria for Lobacheva and Averbukh. Not sure what they were trying to attain there in 99-00 season.

Viktor Petrenko had a pro program to Mambo No 5 paired with various blowup/sex dolls that he had literally for decades.

To me this was a key moment when the pro skating boom really jumped the shark.

For your viewing pleasure, here's a performance from 1999 with Lou Bega live vocals. You're welcome.

I had forgotten about that dreadful and icky Petrenko program!

The dress was beautiful. And I liked the program, but it would have been great without voiceovers.
I felt the same, it was the voiceovers that were the problem but otherwise I thought it was

Well he learned the lesson well. Im frantically trying to keep up with the Benjamim Clementine sp just in my head . :respec: Jason

Does this thread mean a program has jumped the shark as it developed over the season? Or its original selection was jumping the shark as it relates to the skater's career?
