So awful. I know WFSC had at least 5 Intermediate to Novice skaters at the camp.Several Washington DC area skaters including VA and DC are on that plane. These are kids from the National Development Camp. I was with a huge group of VA/DC/MD kids at a hotpot in Wichita celebrating the end of the camp, though several of them still had sessions this morning in the invite-only segment of the camp.
Been trying to reach my friends and no one's answering. I called the sister of a skater and she was already crying hysterically because her mom, dad and brother are on that flight
Please pray for all the passengers and crew on that plane, especially the young skaters and their families
I think it would be better to wait until names from the skating community are confirmed officially before a separate GSD thread is started?Might this thread be moved to GSD and renamed?
I am so sorry. Our old coach -- who went home yesterday -- is currently in the staging area at Reagan together with the dad of one of his skaters (all of his 3 students and their families are on the flight) to wait for any news. My best friend is on that flight together with her skater son and her husband.
Still praying for some small bit of good news, but it's looking bleak.
Yes it was. Do you remember "the man in the water?" Hero. That 1982 crash was awful.
Reagan national airport is closed until Friday. I wonder if they have no idea what the hell happened.

I would guess they have some idea, though nothing will be confirmed until the NTSB finalises their investigation. That 1982 crash was awful.

Some folks are posting that the version of the Blackhawk in the crash is the kind used for high-level executives and that it took off from Langley, which is CIA headquarters. So the story about it being on a training mission is at least debatable at this point.I would guess they have some idea, though nothing will be confirmed until the NTSB finalises their investigation.
