Unless they change the US Constitution, that's a guaranteed thing. Even if he should get a second term (which I sincerely hope he won't) that would end in January 2025.Bonus points that Trump won't be President (hopefully) when LA2028 comes around.

I wonder why LA agreed to wait until 2028? Most likely they knew the IOC was leaning towards Paris for 2024 and made this deal to guarantee that they got the next Olympics plus it gives them more time to prepare.
Especially given that Iran was ruled back then by that nutjob the Ayatollah Khomeini who had held the US hostages for over 440 days. Something tells me that even if the IOC had really given a thought about hosting the Olympics in Tehran the USOC would have told the IOC to expect another boycott from the US and after the boycott in 1980 the IOC couldn't afford to have the US sit out another Olympics.Tehran? How could that be even a consideration given rules regarding dress codes etc.
Huh? LA is getting the 2028 Summer Olympics.Where is LA really having the winter Olympics. Inside events I can get, but are they importing ski slopes? The skiing conditions are generally iffy and certainly not expert like Tahoe.

Well, thank goodness for that!Huh? LA is getting the 2028 Summer Olympics.

Iran was ruled by a Shah at the time.
The Islamic Republic hasn't been around forever. It just seems like it.
More importantly, by opting for 2028, it extracted concessions that should lessen the financial risks involved. Combined with the fact that LA ran a financially successful Games in 1984, mostly at private expense, the hope is that 2028 won't be another boondoggle as seen in recent Olympics. Hopefully (crossing fingers), this will be good for LA and for the Olympic brand.Los Angeles comes off looking generous and gracious.
Known as eSports, competitive video gaming long ago exited your parents’ basement and entered the mainstream. For proof, one need only turn on ESPN. In recent years, the sports network has begun to air major video game tournaments, which often offer millions of dollars in prizes. With an audience of eSports fans expected to reach 145 million people this year, per data gathered by Fortune, it’s no wonder Olympic officials might seize a share of these viewers, as well.
might make it watchable then...But a debilitating thumb cramp at the wrong moment could ruin someone's dreams of Olympic glory.
