I understand that the French dance field is getting more and more crowded, but I'll really miss them. I loved their unique look and style.

I understand that the French dance field is getting more and more crowded, but I'll really miss them. I loved their unique look and style.

Yup, the Virtue/Moir Effect has hit France. It's got to be so tough on the lower-ranked teams knowing that FBCiz are likely to take one of the Olympic team spots for 2030 even if they take the next couple seasons off.

Isn't this more a self-fulfilling prophecy than anything else? Lopareva and Brissaud could have had a good chance at a podium finish at the next Olys. But when you push everyone back then they don't.

Maybe the ISU could give FB/C the skating equivalent of the FIFA Peace Prize, so they can retire with all the hardware and some other French teams can move up

Was it before the French Fed had an inkling of the FB/C pair-up? The French Fed dumped Demougeot/LeMercier internally the season before last? before they snapped back, so the nonsense of the French Fed seems to be tribal.

True, they were ranked behind Lagouge/Caffa several times and it wasn't deserved. But I remember talking with them not long before we heard about FB/C partnership and they had plans until 2030. Last season Marie was no longer herself on the ice, the sparkle was gone. On top of being dumped by French judges (Demougeot/Le Mercier were dumped too at the time) I'm pretty certain that FB/C's return was the coup de grâce.
