Pre-comp article about Ziegler/Kiefer starting with confidence in the new season: https://burgenland.orf.at/news/stories/2944581/

Google translate:
October went very well for the pair with a victory in Minsk, fourth place in Helsinki and a personal best of 178.57 points.

"The top five are our minimum goal in both Grand Prix races. If things go well, then the podium is possible too, "said Kiefer optimistically.

Objectives for this season:
"EM Top 5, WM Top 10", Kiefer was nevertheless carried away to a self-confident assessment.

To improve physical fitness, the couple work together with a sports scientist. "We started the season in May and worked on it from there," said Kiefer. "Now there is a good physical base." The improved fitness level also made it possible to adapt the programs choreographed by the Canadian Mark Pillay.

In addition, a rating system change agrees the 28-year-old from Salzburg and the 24-year-old Burgenlander positive. Now more quality in the programs will be considered more.

Loena had to withdraw before her FS at Skate America due to medical reasons but hopefully she is recovered and ready to show her Nebelhorn form in Helsinki this week!

It was really a shame to miss out on seeing her in the free at Skate America. She was so strong in the practices that I did see with her there. Best wishes to her this week.

Any news on estonian's Annely Vahi?
I liked her last season, but she is nowhere to be seen this year, not even on CS EST entries list.

I think @alchemy void would appreciate some Glebova knc too.

Arianna Wroblewska (former Senior B Swiss Champion) and Stéphane Walker (5 times Swiss Champion) took on the challenge of starting a new career in Ice Dancing. Congrats for passing the Ice Dancing Gold test… on their way to the Elite Swiss Nationals 2018!
Great work by the Skate Academy coaching team and @tanzzwicky dance teachers and main coach Alexander Gazsi. Keep up the hard work and positive spirit!

Is Katia Kukorova allowed to enter international comps this season to earn a Junior or Senior Worlds qualifying score? I'm not particular clear on the timing.

Mentor Torun is still to come; entries not up yet.

@shah can you help, what is this ranking?
http://www.pfsa.com.pl/docs/1819/ranking_kn.pdf

Is it for euros? Provisional list or final ranking?
Sorry to bother.

Like the way they create their list:
Nationals 110%
ZIO, MS, ME, MSJ 106% (what is that @ shah ?)
GP 106%
JGP 105%
CS 103%
INT 100%

Ok, let me start with these abbreviations:
ZIO - Olympic Games
MS - Worlds
ME - Europeans
MSJ - Junior Worlds

I guess the list of entries for Euros is pretty much fixed - Kurakova hasn't competed internationally this season yet, and Mentor Cup is too late for her to get the minimum scores, I'm afraid. However, Gabryszak doesn't have the free programme score for Worlds, so a successful Kurakova with a right TES set should be sent to Japan instead.

Internal ranking based on points garnered at different events ought not to play any role if so few entrants have the minima...

No official entries have been announced, but I presume they will be: Gabryszak, Reznichenko (sub.: Gała), Kaliszek/Spodyrev, Plutowska/Flemin.

Btw, I must say I'm really impressed with all these changes in PZŁF, their website included. Finally, thanks to the new board the institution entered the 21st century :).

@Seerek, @kwanfan1818 posted that "TES minimums have to be earned 21 days before the Team Leaders meeting at championships." For Europeans the Team Leaders meeting is Monday, January 21 and I don't think there are any more ISU senior internationals before the Euros minimums deadline.

I was assuming Kurakova, 16, could still go to Worlds if she earned those minimums in time, but @haribobo just posted this interview link in the Kiss & Cry section:
Kurakova seemed to indicate in a recent interview that she isn't cleared to skate internationally til June 2019. Something about an ISU clearance certificate. Nice interview here- helps to translate to English or your language of choice. :)https://sport24.ru/news/other/2018-...iny-kurakovoy-o-yudzuru-khanyu-brayane-orsere
Kurakova's last international for Russia was a junior international, Mentor Torun Cup, in January 2017: http://www.isuresults.com/bios/isufs00035439.htm

Some calculations about Croatian skaters for Euros and Junior Worlds on Skate Croatia.

Bonus: a week before Europeans I will be posting my interview with one and only Daša Grm. Heads up for TTW :gallopin1

Thanks! Can’t wait to read it.

Btw yesterday she and her boyfriend/coach were watching Russian Nationals on her insta stories. :D

I can't find any results of LAT nationals.
According to ISU bio Kuchvalska won , Jubkane came in 2nd, Pavlovicha 3rs.

So why did Jukbane get the euros nod, with Kuchvalska not even sub status?
Kuchvalska won the other head-to-heads at CS EST and Volvo Cup this season, too.
Someone has insight infos?
Minimums missing? LAT fed finally over her? :drama:

There is a video linked of Butkute/Ermolaev in the interview.
Why is it there? (I do not dare to hope for a comeback of Ermolaev :drama:)
Smirnov was asked about his first coaching experience (Butkute/Ermolaev).
He also mentioned that B/E had to retire as Goda injured her leg pretty badly and Nikita couldn’t find new partner. Ermolaev is now working with Smirnov in small figure skating school in St Petersburg

pre competition report about Austrian skaters: https://sport.orf.at/stories/3043889/

Ziegler/Kiefer aim for 5th, at least they want their best placement, which would be 6th (they were 7th last year). Kurt Schubert is with them in Minsk. It's been not easy (emotionally) after Ballester's death.

Sophie Schaller is very exited to represent Austria for the first time. Kiefer's sister Julia will be with her (not sure, if she's her coach, article is not clear about that). Schaller's goal is to reach FS. Knows she has to be on, to reach it.

It's also the first time for Luc Maierhofer representing Austria at Euros. He was 2nd at nationals, but Maurizio Zandron, who won, has still to sit out his change of federation (from Italy to Austria). He will be eligible form March on. Maierhofer's goal: PB with 200 pts, and hopefully FS. He trains in Neumarkt in Südtirol with Lorenzo Magri. Better conditions, more time on ice, coaches and other skaters: „Da sind die Eiszeiten, das Trainerteam und die anderen Läufer vor Ort ideal“.

Next year Euros will be held at Graz, no extras for team Austria (no national group). Competition arena and training facility will be 8 km apart, bus shuttle will be established.

Ziegler/Kiefer have withdrawn from FS this evening. Decision made this morning during training. They haven't come to terms with Ballester's death yet: https://www.bvz.at/sport/sportmix/e...ntale-meisterschaften-weissrussland-133421881

Decision wasn't easy, they need more time, they're still elsewhere, not focused enough.

Respect for them for listening to their inner voice, and not taking any risks :respec:. I wish them all the best.

Yes, he apeared in July on IPS, cf. https://www.fsuniverse.net/forum/threads/oes-news-2017-2018.101536/page-5#post-5384652

In November I read somewhere, that he teamed up with Arianna Wroblewska, they competed at Swiss Nationals in Wetzikon in December
(sources: https://zueriost.ch/sport/2018-12-13/eine-medaille-ist-fuer-odermatt-nur-ein-traum, article about Odermatt, Walker just mentionned, and https://www.cdt.ch/sport/tuttosport/victoria-e-carlo-a-caccia-di-una-conferma-FG594878, about Carlo Röthlisberger/Victoria Manni, who present Ticino)

The article in the Ticino newspaper says (2nd paragraph), they teamed up in October, she as a club member of Zurich-Oerlikon, he Sion
