Ode to the beautiful game... (Soccer)

Two more candidates have decided to run FIFA president both are football insiders. Gianni Infantino is UEFA's Secretary General and Sheik Salman bin Ebrahim Al Kalifa is the AFC president.

Just a few notes from the football world today:

1) Man U is out of the League Cup and I am not really all that broken up. I want them to concentrate on the CL and EPL title.
2) David Nakhid of Trinidad is out of the race for FIFA president. FIFA says he did not meet the minimum requirements.
3) Sepp Blatter admits the decision to give Russia the 2018 WC was made before the actual vote. The English FA are considering suing to get back the £21m it spent in it's own failed bid.
4) McDonald's, Coca-Cola, Visa, and Anhauser Busch are all once again threatening to end their association with FIFA if reforms are not satisfactory.

Save your own skin, the knives come out, chickens coming home to roost and all of that:

Sepp Blatter: Michel Platini backed out of pact to give 2022 World Cup to U.S.

And maybe also, they are singing like canaries?

I am not sure I believe that about the U.S. mainly because the U.S. could never realistically hope to out bid Qatar and their buttonless pockets for the 2022 WC. LOL And even if it is true, then FIFA pulling out of the deal could possibly be the best thing that to happen to football in a long time.

I truly believe this is true and probably the reason they are so pi$$ed off, I wonder how much they spent on getting the world cup. Remember both 1996 and 2002 Olympics were won under corruption. Now FIFA is investigated for 1998, 2002, 2006, 2010, 2014, 2018 and 2022 world cups. Why just leave 1994 world cup, right US hosted it. If there is more proof to the US was guaranteed 2022 world cup and Qatar manages to out bribe US, then world cup in Russia will be interesting for people like Sunil Gulati, will they chose to attend.

I really don't want us (the US) to host until there is a lot of house cleaning. Qatar can have it. I do feel sorry for the workers who die daily, and the players and fans who might be uncomfortable in the heat. The game is more popular here than, say 1994, when very few people cared. But I'd still rather not see a World Cup until this group is history. If it were removed from Qatar my vote would be for the UK where the game originated. They will do it right.

I do like the way the game grew in popularity here in 1999 when the women took the stage. Of course FIFA didn't and doesn't appear to give a damn about them. The ladies rock.

I (as an American) would actually favor giving it to Australia if Qatar is axed. It has never been held there either, the climate is perfect at that time of year, there are stadiums in all the major cities for Australian football, and who wouldn't want to go to Australia? Problem solved.

What on earth is going on in the EPL?! Leicester City in the #1 spot while Chelsea is fighting off relegation?!

So glad I'm not home to watch the Man U game! Because if I did I wouldn't have any fingernails left! LOL

Man U is sooooooo dull a team. I think Rooney should be eased out and way made for younger strikers like Depay. I'm sure PSV would have scored if they were playing another team. They were lured to sleep by Man U boring play.
