Heart breaking the Danish player today collapsed on the pitch looks like he was dead before he hit the ground, tragic. I hope they can revive him. CPR done but didn’t seem to be enough. How awful for the family and players both teams

Oh thank goodness they were able to revive him and now stabilized at the hospital.

I thought about Sergei immediately, as when he collapsed his eyes were in the back of his head before he hit the ground and then stopped breathing.

Yay game back on, apparently up to Denmark and they wanted to play. So assume he must be in good shape. Wow not only did they have to give him CPR 3x but the defibrillator a few times as well.

England won, actually looked decent for once which is good as I picked the final to be England and France. We are heading camping next week with our trailer here in Ontario Canada (we just came out of lockdown an now allowed outside only activities), so had to reserve outside bar patios with TV showing euros lol.

Congratulations to Argentina! They beat Brazil yesterday for the Copa America Cup. It’s the first trophy for Messi with his national side. Unfortunately I had to work all day so I couldn’t watch it! 😭

It was a good match, especially the last 20 minutes or so were very exciting!

At 5 PM EDT Sunday, July 18, 2021, the US Men's National team will play the Canadian Men's National team in the final match in the CONCACAF Gold Cup group B. Both teams are undefeated in group play and are advancing to the tournament's Quarter Finals. But, Canada with 8 goals scored v USA's 7 goals scored is first in group. All they need is a tie to win the group. The USA must win the game to win the group. It should be an interesting game.

NJL. (..;)..)

USWNT lost to Sweden 0-3 in the Olympic opener for both teams breaking the USA's 44 game unbeaten streak. This was no fluke. Sweden kicked their a$$es fair and square. Sweden will win this group. The USA faces a team that could defeat them, Australia, next. The USA needs a win and 3 points. A 1 point draw will not do.

NJL (It may be that the World Cup Champions problems at the following Olympics continues. We'll see Saturday.)

ETA: The USA plays New Zealand on Saturday and Australia on Tuesday. Saturdays game is at 730 AM and Tuesdays it at 4 AM. Both are on NBC in the US.

ETA2: Saturdays game is on NBCSN. Tuesdays is on USA Network.

Congratulations to the US! :cheer2:

USA B- team beats Mexico's A- team to get second CONCACAF Championship Trophy in 2019. Mexico's Coach/Manager to be lynched soon...;)

Of greater importance to the folks north of the USA: Olympic Women's soccer Semi-Final: USA 0 v 1 Canada. The first time Canada has beaten the USA in 20 years. Will play Sweden in the Final. USA will play Australia for the Bronze medal. Do expect major shake up with team USA after the Olympics.

NJL: (I hope Canada wins the gold, but I think that Sweden is simply better. Being bigger, stronger, faster does not alway insure victory, but it is always the way to bet...:rolleyes:..)

WOW! Women's soccer is over. USA 4 v 3 Australia for the USA to take home the Bronze Medal. Not what they wanted, but after playing poorly throughout the tournament they played just good enough to salvage a Medal.

Gold Medal Match: Sweden 1 v 1 Canada after 120 minutes. Sweden 2 v Canada 3 in 6 round Penalty kick shootout. Canada wins its first Major Soccer Tournament and the Gold Medal and Sweden gets the Silver Medal.

NJL (Thanks Canada. Well done!...:cheer2::cheer::COP:(y):biggrinbo...)

It was a great result for University of Portland, where my older son went to college. Both Megan Rapinoe and Christine Sinclair played for the Pilots.

Not to worry. Canada gave Mexico all it could handle in the CONCACAF Gold Cup Semi-Final. They have more than a few players in Europes upper echelon now and, after that game, some more will follow. Mexico, USA, and CANADA could very well be the top 3 teams from the region in WCQ. We will find out soon since WCQ starts September 2, 2021 and on September 5, 2021 @ Nashville, TN - USA v Canada...:eek:

NJL (Let the good times roll...:biggrinbo..)

ETA: Canada is away at Honduras on Sept 2 and home v El Salvador on Sept 8. Biggie v Mexico on Oct 7. Check the CONCACAF site for the full schedule for all 8 teams in the Octagonal.

I forgot about that but it would be nice to qualify for 2022 and we have a good chance now. I’m a ball of nerves already! LOL

Messi is in Paris and having his news conference right now. There are fans outside chanting his name.
Beckham didn't get him into MLS and Inter Miami to play with the Higuain brothers? The entire 305 nation is in shock, shock I tell you. He went to Paris instead of the Capitol of Latin America? Traitor! Traitor to the 305! Evil!

NJL. (... :eek: :wideeyes::slinkaway:mad::angryfire...:biggrinbo...)

FYI: Carli Lloyd will play 4 Friendlies for the USWNT and finish her club season. At the end of all that she is going to retire. Thanks for a remarkable career, Carli. We will never have another like you.

NJL (Rumors about Megan Rapinoe retiring. It seems now that it is a maybe. We'll see.)

Canada and the US tied 1-1 in WC qualifying and the game between Argentina and Brazil was stopped by authorities over alleged C19 violations by Argentina.

And R.I.P.
