RIP Martin Peters who has passed away at the age of 76 after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. An England legend who scored the 2nd English goal in the 4-2 win over West Germany in the 1966 World Cup Final

As expected, a USA v Canada final.

Canada struggled to win v Costa Rica:
Canada 1 v 0 Costa Rica

USA scored early and scored late to defeat Mexico:
USA 4 v 0 Mexico.

The 1st half of the final ended as a 0-0 tie.

The USA broke the tie in the 61st minute forcing Canada to change to a different formation that opened the field for the USA's attack. They scored 2 more times for a final of:

USA 3 v 0 Canada

By far the best played game of the entire tournament. The score does not indicate how close the game actually was.

Both teams advance to the 2020 Olympics.

The US Soccer Federation claims unequal pay is justified because it requires more skill to be a male soccer player. My jaw just dropped to the floor. https://www.cnn.com/2020/03/11/us/us-soccer-federation-court-document-trnd/index.html

According to the court filing, the job performed by players on the women's team requires less skill, effort and responsibility than the one performed by players on the men's team. "... A reasonable juror could conclude that the job MNT player requires materially different skill and more responsibility than Plaintiff's job does, while also taking place under materially different working conditions," according to the federation's filing.

I don't know about US players but I know that German female soccer players usually have a full time job because they get paid so little they can't be professional athletes.

The head of the federation has apologized and acted like he was unaware of this legal strategy. Conveniently, he only did this after sponsors started complaining.
I hope they turn those jerseys inside out every chance they get.

Yeah. I read the thing and was wondering what sport the legal people were talking about. If anything, the women have MORE skill.

Buzz,

You let me down. The Prem has continued and Liverpool won it. I thought you'd be all over that....;)

NJL (ManU fans simply do not want to know about that, but they have to admit that Liverpool deserves their first Premier League title and their 19th top tier championship overall - one behind ManU...;)..)

Aston Villa 7 - 2 Liverpool

Just to think that Aston Villa came within an inch of being relegated last season!

Manchester United were also beaten by Tottenham 6-1!

Congrats to Man City on winning the EPL. United came in second but it really wasn’t close, but they did better than I thought they would.

Manchester City won the Prem for 2020-2021. Manchester United finished a distant second. Last years champion, Liverpool FC, finished 3rd, Chelsea 4th - all 4 qualify for next seasons Champions League - with Leicester City in fifth to qualify for the Europa League.
