Nebelhorn Trophy - Women's SP & FS

The +1s on Amber's axel are criminal lol

I mean, I’m trying to look at this and see why she lost a level on spins and foot work but a plus one on her triple axel that I have not seen since the days of Midori Ito? I mean come on now.

And Amber has the most control on the landing of a triple Axel I have ever seen, and a good transition out of it.

And the American judge gave Amber the lowest GOE of any judge for her first spin. Hmm

Couldn't get away from work today but just popping in right quick to say thank you to everyone for PBP! ✨🙏🏼✨ I can't wait to read them all! Looks like our US girls are both doing great so far! Can't wait to watch all the performances! 💖

Upon reaching Jia (on a screen bigger than my phone this time), I can see why the judges went so high on the GOE today. Those were some exceptionally high quality jumps. I still think the PCS is a little high, but you cannot deny that it is a well constructed and well skated program. Really well done.

Jia's jumps are HUGE, but quite frankly I found the rest robotic like most of the Korean ladiezzz. Zero emotion and then an occasional "oh, I should smile" randomly.

I concur that Amber GOE on the 3A is too low. However, giving up points on the spins and steps doesn't help.

Mule kick aside, Isabeau has gotten a bit more height in her jumps. My problem with the program is it doesn't really draw me in. It honestly needs a level of camp to pull this retro music off, because just being cutesy makes it come off a bit junior. :slinkaway

Interesting I don’t find Jia's jumps huge, and her combination come to a halt.

I’ve watched 10 times now and I’ve never understood why does Amber lose on spins and foot work? I think hers are as good as everyone’s.

And I thought Isabeau skated with more speed than ever, and had more height on her jumps than ever.

I think she didn't hold the change of edge on the camel spin position long enough (i.e. for enough full rotations) to get a level 4, or it wasn't considered a clear change of edge.

Someone with better TES savvy than me can tell us for sure though.

Isabeau has really worked on her speed and she has such nice flow when she skates and the jumps even look a bit bigger. Back when she was a Junior she was really slow even compared to other Junior skaters she competed against. The jumps look stable and i can't see her not making the Olympic team.

Her improvements are quite noticeable.

I've only just started watching some of the videos.

I call horse poo poo 💩 on the GOE on Amber's HUGE 3A in the SP! I'm not understanding the level 3s on her spin combos and SS either! 🤔 Maybe the butterfly before one of the spins was a little low? Other than that, I don't get it. Anyways, don't want to jinx but her SP is giving out total Olympian vibes! I love it, I love her hairstyle and her dress is STUNNING! Same with Isabeau's dress, it's gorgeous! I still prefer her Breakfast At Tiffany's SP from last year, but I'm sure that this one will grow on me. I agree with everyone who has said that her jumps look bigger, a big improvement on her speed! That compensates some for the unfortunate technique going into her jumps.. Jia's SP looked excellent but otherwise it was sort of 🤷🏼‍♀️ for me. Imo, I think that Amber should have been in first after the SP.

On to read the FS threads! I've been trying not to get spoiled all day lol! Thanks again everyone for PBP! ✨🙏🏼✨💖✨

Welcome to the club, I’ve dissected that short program 20 times since yesterday and I can’t figure it out.

And I’ll also be watching German and Netherlands judges carefully tomorrow. Shadyyyyyyyyyyyyyy.

Yes! I took a quick look at the protocols, those are the two judges that gave me pause! 🤔 I'm hoping that it's nothing political against US athletes. I had Amber at at least 75+ even with the stepout! In these uncertain days I can't help but feel a little paranoid. Although, going a little OT, I was somewhat heartened by Adeliia Petrosian's GOE at the Olympic Qualification event. Both she and Petr Gumennik deserved to win but for the most part their GOES respectively weren't too crazy out there as in the past sometimes (particularly for the Russian girls).

Can't wait for the FS tomorrow! Once again, I can't get away from work all weekend in order to watch live, and on top of that I'm taking care of my nephew's baby girl too! Busy busy busy! 💖 But I'll be popping in when I can for the FS updates! Don't want to jinx but I'm feeling really good about Amber and Isabeau's chances! ✨❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥✨⛸️⛸️✨

Ambers 3A: 8+ seconds of breaking choreography and the program to do back crossovers and look in the direction of where she was going to jump. Landing didn't have much of a running edge; in fact, I wouldn't be surprised if her team added the three-turn/spread eagle transition to get her a little momentum and cover it up a bit. That 'long preparation' is a required -1 to -3 subtraction from whatever score she was going to get, and honestly... the jump prep doesn't get a whole lot longer than that. We can go into 'she's a woman doing a 3A, it's so rare' and all of that, but those are the rules.

The +4 is preposterous to me, the +3 is probably generous.

Now, before someone has a meltdown over the judges not doing it for this or that other skater-- I'm well-aware that high GOE's are thrown out to bigger names for lesser jump quality all the time. In fact, +1's for the loop?

With all that... so you agree the +1 was ridiculous? lol
