Nebelhorn Trophy - Pairs SP & FS

I have a job interview at 10:30am (2nd round, so wish me luck), but it means I'll be missing the 1st 3-4 pairs teams. I'd feel badly except I saw them all yesterday and I'm not really missing anything. Hope to be done before ChtWoz take the ice.

And I continue to watch from my stretcher in the hall of the ER, no bays available. I almost asked the nurse to wait til CPon but didn’t so missed them.

Hope the pairs is less weird than the RD scoring has been today.

Ice resurfacing underway.

After 1st of 5 groups - the FS results:
1 Aurelie FAULA / Theo BELLE FRA 93.36 50.11 43.25 5.55 5.20 5.45 0.00 #2
2 Letizia ROSCHER / Luis SCHUSTER GER 89.15 43.36 45.79 5.90 5.55 5.70 0.00 #3

The overall results so far:
1 Letizia ROSCHER / Luis SCHUSTER GER 142.50 15 2
2 Aurelie FAULA / Theo BELLE FRA 139.48 16 1
3 Megan WESSENBERG / Denys STREKALIN FRA 127.89 17 3

Okay, job interview complete - so good seeing one of my old managers from a previous job (hoping that her knowledge of my work ethic, experience, and attention to detail/accuracy put me at the top of the candidates list). Does not look like I missed ANYTHING with the first group. Wessenberg/Strekalin didn't even score high enough to make the GP Alternates List (Total Min score is 131.87). Faula/Belle are about 15 pts below their 2024-25 SB and RoSchu are 20 pts below theirs. :yikes:

CalMag - yeah, not gonna give a PBP call of their program either because the first three elements are, right out of the gate, a hot mess and now we've got an aborted lift where she actually fell on the ice as he tried to get her down safely.

ETA - also, I do NOT understand how her sparkly varied shades of sky blue unitard goes with his olive green khakis and beige/tan t-shirt. He looks like he's an Army recruit and she does... NOT.

Caldara looks like she is injured, by the way, in the KnC. Ice on her wrist and one pant leg of her unitard pulled up - maybe also with some ice.

She seemed to be in agony in the KnC - I thought she was going to faint or "hurl" :(

why are there so many irish dance programs this season?????????

ChtWoz - ohhhhh, "Riverdance!" 3tw - nice & high; SBS 3t - bit sketchy landing for her; SBS 2a+1a+1a - total mess for her; throw 3f - fall; FIDS - nice; first lift - solid; nice transitions into the second lift & also solid; throw 3s - two-foot landing; third lift - good; choreo seq - nicely timed to the music; pairs combo spin - alright.

What is it with skaters/teams picking "Riverdance" for this season? Are they really confusing Italy with Ireland?

OMG! I have Nebelhorn streaming to the TV and Nepela in another browser window. Just finished ChtWoz and I hear "Riverdance" again - Younghyun Cha is using it for his SP and he just started it at Nepela!

VLDigs - 3tw - nice; SBS 3t - she held on but the landing was a bit squirrely; SBS 2a+1a+1a - decent-ish; throw 3lo - she put her hands down and landed badly - GOE looks like they counted it as a fall; first lift - fine; pairs combo spin - nice flow - got a V call; FIDS - good; choreo seq nice; throw 2s - she just opened right out in the air; second lift - alright; how far this team has come that they're putting their third lift as the last element...

There was some mess, and some good. Mixed bag & won't be moving them up the GP Alternates List with this score.

I thought they might be skating to Avatar. That’s the only thing I could come up with but was too lazy to actually further investigate.

That is a very on-the-nose dress for The Mission. I don't think it suits Lia. (I'm not sure it would suit anybody.)

PerMich - 3tw - good; SBS 3t+2a - nice; these costumes are ugly, btw; throw 3lo - fall; SBS 2s - need I say more? I thought they did 3s and their score would indicate that they did indeed despite the initial call by the tech panel; first lift - fine; throw 3f - two-foot & squatting step out on the landing; pairs combo spin - fine; second lift - fine; choreo seq - nothing to write home about; final lift - very nice; BIDS - quite nice.

Seriously - I don't understand what these costumes have to do with "The Mission". He maybe looks like a Spanish colonialist rather than a Franciscan priest; and her dress has a cross design on the front in dark blue with a sky blue skirt to match his shirt/jacket, the skirt ombres into peach on either side of the horizontal axis of the cross and then into white over her shoulder & on her arms. These costumes are just... Not right on so many levels.

Not really. I mean, I get the cross is very literal but I'm failing to understand how it relates in any way to a movie set in the Paraguayan interior during the colonial era.

Whatever charm Annika and her partner used to have, it’s gone. What a blecherous program concept, neither the choreo nor costumes have anything to do with the lyrics.

HocKun - Annika never met a unitard she didn't love. "I Would Do Anything For Love" is their music. 3tw - fine; SBS 3s - she doubled; SBS 2a+1a+1a - alright; first lift - decent; throw 3f - nice; second lift - it was good until it slowed to a near dead stop on the last bit; throw 3lo - very nice; last lift - nice; BODS - no weird leg grab and for that I'm grateful; pairs combo spin - slow; choreo seq - ending with a bang and it's actually pretty dynamic, so good for them!

TES is below PerMich, so I'm guessing they'll fall behind them in the standings.

They've settled into this rock lane and they need to get out of it. Everything is pretty much the same as the last few seasons with them now. It's as bad in its own way as those teams that stay in the pairs adult contemporary ballad style.

IzzoMai - I have no idea what they're skating to... Something warlike, it would seem. 2tw - fine; SBS 3f+2a - whoa; SBS 3z - okay then, lol; first lift - fine; FIDS - good; throw 3lo - nice; choreo seq - decent; pairs combo spin - alright; now the music changes to Josh Groban... Okay then... throw 3z - fall - eek; second lift - eh; last lift - decent.

Lots of elements under review & TES is lower than both PerMich & HocKun, so they're likely to drop, however I do think we'll see an improvement in their SB that will move them up the GP Alternates list.
