National Skating Month -- I put a figure skater on our parenting magazine cover. :)

Wasn't sure where else to put this...not really general news and not trash can (I don't think).

I'm assistant editor for our local parenting magazine. For January, I talked my editor into doing a Winter Olympic sports article -- 5 local kids who do different winter sports -- and putting a local rink figure skater and hockey player on the cover.

If you click through, you can read the kids' interviews. Just doing my part to promote figure skating!

Also, I ended up spotlighting four female athletes. We had to find a "token" guy to spotlight, which is a bit of a switch I suppose.

That's great! The interviews treated them like pros and so did the photography! I am impressed that a 10-year-old skater looks up to Surya. Her grandmother sounds hard-core. Kudos!

Thanks for promoting figure skating! Now's the time a lot of kids start clamoring for lessons. Nice of you to spotlight a young skater.
