Yes, I think it’s similar to how Chan and Rochette were named ambassadors of the Montreal Worlds in 2020. An honorary title perhaps, but still a privilege and an honor nevertheless.

I would have automatically translated it "godmother" too and only realised a competition can't have a godmother when you didn't understand it.

I believe it is every 4 years. However, Pechelat only got 2 years because it was the continuation of the 2018-22 term (2018-20 with DG). I believe that this could have been also a factor: not having the whole 4 years to implement reforms and find time to build relationships.

Must depend on the year. According to the minutes of the 2021 General Assembly, public funding was first, not by far. But that was the covid period and the number of registered members had dwindled.
