Mao Asada's THE ICE 2017 - July 29-31 in Osaka & Aug. 4-6 in Nagoya, Japan

Thanks cohkaix and roosewood for the reports and links

It is incredible that Mao still surprises me after so many years. She does not stop growing like skater and artist, she takes care of even the smallest detail.

Queen!! :swoon:

Thanks so much, rosewood, for the links and getting a chance to see more of Mao's incredibly beautiful and emotionally moving performances in The Ice 2017. There really are no words to describe the feeling. I especially like Mao's expressiveness with her hands and just the fluidity and careful attention to extension and articulation of feeling in every motion. I believe that is Mirai with big pools in her eyes at the end of Wind Beneath my Wings. You can really sense her connection with the performance. I hope she makes it to the Olympics and that Mirai is able to tap into Mao's and Midori's spirit of landing the triple axel in the Olympics.

Love all of your updates, @cohkaix. <3

From the final show in Nagoya (actually it was the final show of this whole tour): (Bolded mine to show where Mao skated. Forgive me since this was a special show dedicated to her career.) In Osaka Mao was nervous after a while break. This time in Nagoya her performances were magnificent! My fav performances here were Elegie and Madama Butterfly. She's now an artist who can skate free from damn rules. I also loved her stsq of Ritual Dance FS ver. (in the end of the tribute medley) with a long red skirt. As a big fan of Mao I'm grateful to all the skaters for skating in this memorial show despite their busy schedule. Everyone did their best here. I also loved Lori gave beautiful words to Mao in the intermission talk show. Love them all.

Opening (Chopin's Ballade No1) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e0s5PB5P1QU Shame Midori and the announcer talked too much when Mao showed her stroking & edge work warm-ups in silence. The crowd enjoyed the sound of her skating at the rink in person and it was the point of the opening.

Mao Asada (Wind Beneath My Winds + Lori Nichol and Aero as surprise guests in the intermission talk show) *I want to note that there was a message written in Japanese on the projector following photos of people around her such as her coaches and her dog Aero that "あなたがいたから。応援してくれたから。ありがとう。"(= Since you were there. Since you supported me. Thank you.) そしてここにいるみなさん。(= And, to everyone who are here.) And then Mao turned around with her arms spreading toward the crowd. The lyrics and her explosive expressions made my eyes filled with tears. xoxoxo I also loved Lori gave beautiful words to Mao in the talk show. <3

ETA:
I edited my comment here and there in this post today. As ETA, one thing that I want people to notice is that Midori as a commentator said during Mirai's Nocturne SP that the rate of Mirai's successful 3A in practices was good. Midori added after Mirai's fall on a 3A that it shows how hard for a woman to do a 3A. As long as I know, Mirai stood on it in over a half of the shows during the tour. It was nice to see her 3A challenges got big appreciations from crowds through the tour. Audience know very well about every skater's journey and his/her career. I believe many of them have followed Mirai's endeavor of years. Whether doing a 3A or not, I really wish cheers from people here will give her power for an uphill spiral throughout this Olys season. :)

Whole show style dailymotion videos of the Nagoya stop:
(Part1 video includes Adelina's Shehelazade, WeaPo's Sing Sing Sing and Pang/Tong's Liebesträume in the Mao tribute medley. Those numbers were not included in the YT videos that I posted on my earlier post #58.))
