Lubov and Dylan - Wowza!

I didn't know about Dylan's injury until they mentioned it after they had skated. I had wondered, though, why they weren't doing their trademark lift.

So well done for them. They skated so lovely that you almost miss that she singled the 3S. Imagine what the scores could have been, though if they'd done it!!!

And I loved in the interview where there was absolutely no mention or frustration of the 3S. Just a lot of we're really happy.

I would like to see something really cute and sassy. No idea at the moment what music that would be, but she just shines and I don't want to see anything heavy or dramatic or angsty. Please don't hide her light under a bushel. And Dylan is awesome too, and maybe something comedic would be great as well. I love them.

I agree...even if it is only an exhibition program....I know they wanted to look different from Dylans old partnership but Lubov has so much personality and musicality ..I would like to see that come out in a upbeat program as well... I saw several comments..some from commentators that their long program last year...although beautiful did not have enough oomph in the music except for the end..Could be some judges felt the same way.

I loved the contrast of their two programs for this past season and thought the Rachmaninoff selection was gorgeous. Popped triple sal aside, it would have been hard fro them to skate it more exquisitely than they did at worlds. It was so beautiful and perfect for them both. Both Lubov and Dylan have grown so much in this partnership--I just can't wait to see what they bring for next year.

I thought they had great choices this season, but I also love the idea of doing something comedic and sassy next year. We've seen them both do it in their previous partnerships (Dylan in the Micmacs SP from 2012-13 and 2013-14 with Kirsten and Luba in the Barber of Seville SP from 2010-11 and 2011-12 with Maizuradze), so we already know they can both pull it off. It would be a great way to further highlight their versatility and range, which they have already started to show this season.

I feel uncertain about Luba/Dylan doing an upbeat/comedic program. I don't know if it's what I want to see from them. I'm hesitant because Dylan did quite a bit in that style with MTM, and although it worked for them as a team, I never found it terribly interesting. I think if Dylan did comedy with Luba, it would be more refined and on a higher level than his programs with Kirsten. But I still feel dubious, and I hope if they try it, it's only in an SP or EX, not an LP.

Luba has a charming personality, and it's nice to see her smiling on the ice. However, I think there's a lot more complexity beneath the surface with her, and I'd like to see that explored more. I consider her one of the biggest talents of all in the pairs world and, as such, it makes me want to see her tackling some really big or interesting music/themes.

ITA ..as far as comedy goes...I was thinking more of exhibition program...show with lots of personality.

They are just a team that is going to be wonderful to watch even if they make mistakes. They have magic.

Of course I wish they had been able to team up earlier but I am glad they found each other at last.
Agreed, except I always got a kick out of watching Dylan & Kristin. Usually I enjoyed the short programs best with MicMacs topping the list - just a lot of saucy and a bit different from the run of the mill.

is she expected to obtain citizenship prior to the Olympics?

It will probably come down to the wire, much as it did for Kaitlyn Weaver in 2010 and Piper Gilles in 2014. In both of those cases, the citizenship came in December-ish the year before, having been fast-tracked under a provision for people who could provide "exceptional services" to Canada. Although neither one ended up making the Olympic team so hopefully Lubov has their luck with getting the citizenship, but better luck with making the team.

If Luba can land her jumps consistently in competition, she might just be the new Katia Gordeeva

just watched their recent worlds LP, and can't disagree with that! dang, i completely forgot about her. i knew i had seen her compete before, but just pushed her out of my mind

Thanks to MaoFan for the video link.

Ugh, the jumps. Uggggggh, the beauty. The transitions in and out of the pair spin, and the spin itself is just wonderful. They start and finish the lift before the throw loop with a whisper--he placed her back on the ice like she was an egg, and the face caress--good heavens.

Whoever is packaging her gets high marks as well. She looks liked an elegant young woman rather than a cute little girl. Love the longer dress on her.

i always loved the longer dresses on female pairsskaters. though of course, they'd rather wear shorter skirts for practicality
