Love, Balls and Courting: Tennis V

Speaking of Alcaraz, I see he's getting his own Netflix docu-series coming out later this month (April 23rd).

Don't forget Borg's getting his own Docu-series planned as well monikered The OG ATG GOAT! He was the 1st male to win 11 majors in the Pro Era which is why he's so highly regarded w/ so few titles compared to The Big 3, Laver, & Sampras! :40beers: :cautious:  ๐Ÿฅณ

So... anyone watching Roland Garros tennis? I heard that Venus Williams and Andre Agassi were going to be commentators this year, though Agassi only for the semis and finals. I might tune in just to hear him talk, lol. I was all about Andre during his playing days.

I'm waiting until the later rounds but Taylor Fritz going out in the first round was a shock.

The comeback by Monfils was good. Tomorrow Richard Gasquet plays Sinner. He got a wild card. I believed he retired. I was surprised to see him.

I'm watching! Been only a handful of upsets; Ruud, Tsitsipas, Fritz, & Medvedev! ๐Ÿฅณ :cautious::scream:๐Ÿ˜ฑ

I was bummed to see Shapovalov went down in the second round -- though he fought hard and nearly pulled off a comeback from an early 0-2 set deficit. I was looking forward to seeing him play Djokovic. Ah well.

The Sinner/Lehecka match was a huge letdown. Expected more from Jiri.

Keys was lucky to escape the upset.

Old man Novak appears to be cruising to the round of 16, where he'll play for his 100th win at Roland Garros, I think the commentators said.

Djokovic is already the only player w/ 90+ wins at each Major, but is on the cusp of truly distancing himself from all others w/100 wins at all 4 majors! The USO his only daunting task, probably needing 2 seasons to hit 100 wins! ๐Ÿฅณ :40beers::D

Rune/Musetti match up is not going to be hard on the eyes. :P

The Alcaraz/Shelton match was very entertaining. Amazing power and shot making.

Who's this TNT commentator Alex Faust? :grope: (Apparently usually baseball stuff?)

After the Alcaraz match, the Musetti quarterfinal match was a bit dull in comparison. Rune really ran out of gas and the whole level fell off in the final set. Guess he's not in full shape from the illnesses he's suffered from earlier this year, plus Musetti's had a great clay court season.

Musetti now into his first RG quarterfinal! And I like his chances against Tiafoe ...

Musetti seems the likely winner, especially on clay, but I think in head-to-heads Tiafoe has had the slight advantage (3-2 I think?), though Musetti won their only clay court meeting. Hopefully it's better than the Rd 16 match with Rune.

Coco has had impressive wins, with today being no exception. And Pegula remains a headcase, getting downed by a player ranker 360-something having a dream tournament. ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ

Meanwhile Zverev gets some luck with Griekspoor retiring mid-match. And Novak had his best play of the tournament taking Norrie out easily. And they've evenly split their last six head to heads. :watch:

I like underdog stories and Boisson certainly fits the bill. Poor woman, the only time I heard of her before this was when another tennis player made a snarky comment about body odor and it made world headlines. The Frenchwoman handled that very well and it seems like that attitude translates into her game as well, even though she is where she never expected to be. Coco will likely be in the finals, though, as this whole thing must be a bit exhausting. She came back from injury to play her first grand slam and now is in the semis.

Sinner Vs Djokovic !

For Djokovic to win this French Open at 38 yrs. old, he'll need to complete the trifecta of defeating #3 Zverev (done) in the QF, #1 Sinner in the SF Friday, then #2 Alcaraz in the final Sunday! That would be the equivalent of a player beating Federer, Nadal, then Djokovic! It just can't be done, but ya never know! Novak has gotten progressively better over the tournament after having such a a dreadful clay season, dropping 3 in a row! He'll be going for his 25th Major BTW! :D :40beers:๐Ÿฅณ:grandpa:
