Let's Talk Movies #36 - 2020 - Yep it is a new decade

Well, I made it through half of Sinners (we are at my daughter’s and they bought it) and left when it became a horror movie. DH watched to the end. We thought the acting and cinematography were great but weren’t particularly moved or impressed. We’re still rooting for OBAA in my house….

Bugonia was one of the strangest movies I’ve ever seen, and I’ve seen David Lynch films! Kudos to Emma Stone for changing things up all the time.

I know, right?! Arnold Schwarzenegger is almost 80 years old.

In teasing King Conan, Schwarzenegger told the crowd, “It’s a great story where Conan was 40 years king [as] king and he gets complacent, and now he gets forced out of the kingdom, slowly. Then there’s conflict, of course, and then he somehow comes back, and then there’s all kinds of madness and violence and magic and creatures. Now, of course, you have all the special effects, and the studio system has plenty of money to make those movies really big. So I’m looking forward to all of those projects.”

🤷🏻‍♀️

Today’s movie was “Sentimental Value”. My sister and I both loved it and hope it wins for best foreign film (although we haven’t seen the Secret Agent one yet). We really related to the relationship between the sisters.

I hope to see it today. I just hope I won’t fall asleep during the movie due to jet lag.

Today's movie was The Secret Agent, a Brazilian (?) film about the corruption and troubles in Brazil during the 70s. Probably an important movie, but neither my sister nor I liked it that much, and it was WAY too long. It's the only one of the best picture films I've actually disliked, with one more to go (seeing F1 on Sunday morning).

Interesting. The Secret Agent is my favorite of the 6 nominated films seen. Afterwards I couldn't tell you what it was about, but the vibe or something appealed to both DH and I.

Easily my most anticipated film of the year. Yes, I want to see it more than Avengers Doomsday (although I will probably go to both). The original Dune trilogy remains among my favorite reads, and I love what Villeneuve has done with it even if he didn't adhere to the book 100%.

I fully plan to get the premiere day off work so I can see both films - hopefully back to back if the times work out.

Bring on Dunesday! I’ll be IMAXed to the MAX!!!!!!! 😁

I’m looking forward to seeing Project Hail Mary this weekend. The “sneak peak” reviews look great! 😊

I really, really wish we had an IMAX theater around here. The closest one is about a four-hour drive from where I live. But yes, bring on Dunesday!
