I'm excited for The Roses. Olivia Colman and Benedict Cumberbatch are two of my favorite actors, and I can't remember them ever being in the same movie before, let alone as a romantic couple (though that doesn't last long, apparently). Hoping for some sizzle!

Went to see Minecraft today with the kids. It’s really fun. I laughed out loud a few times. I wouldn’t go see it if I didn’t have kids, but it was enjoyable :)

We went with some of little mic’s friends and their siblings and holy cow the previews were A LOT for a lighthearted family movie. Jurassic World took out a couple of the younger kids :/

I don't blame her honestly. Making her first big project after an Oscar win a Star Wars movie isn't really the best choice right now. And if/when the loud toxic parts of the fan base decides to harass her Lucasfilm/Disney won't do anything to help her. We've seen that happen before. I mean hell they got Brie Larson fresh off her Oscar win and they did nothing to help her when the toxic fans went for her.

I decided to check out the CinemaCon special. There’s gonna be a scene in The Ballerina where a mildly spoilery but of interest to anyone on a figure skating board.
The ballerina uses a figure skate as a weapon.

I went to that too. Not much in it I haven't already seen and thought it was hilarious they played trailers before it that ended up in it lol. I am more of an indy studio fan so the moves I am really looking forward to weren't included. I've been to 30 or so movies this year so far so that's a lot of trailers I have seen

Just as a total nonsensical side note, the upcoming Thunderbolts * movie has two second generation actors in it. Lewis Pullman is the son of Bill Pullman and Wyatt Russell is the son of Kurt Russell. Sometimes I wonder if their parents tried to discourage them from becoming actors or encourage them.

I have no idea but I will say Wyatt Russell was outstanding as John Walker/fake Cap/US Agent in Falcon and the Winter Soldier TV series. Really brought some nuance to what should have been a straight-up hateable character.

Maybe, being what they probably know can happen in Hollywood with children, they wanted them to wait until they were adults. 😬 I just looked at their filmographies and they didn’t really do any work until they were in their late teens.

Finally got around to seeing The Amateur last night. Agree with what others have said about the lock picking, but other than that I quite enjoyed it. I really bought into Rami Malek's character and the anguish he felt after his wife's death. And I also liked that he struggled so much with actually killing people, even with his desire for revenge. The movie had enough twists and turns to hold my interest, and a more positive ending than many in this genre. Thumbs up from me.
