Nice interpretation of the music, too many solo double axels, good moves in the field section. Could skate with more speed and of course, adding the harder jumps would also be a plus. Nice work.

Paint it Black, but he's wearing blue. 1a. Fall on 3-3. Waltz jump. Jump technique looks pretty good, but couldn't quite finish all of them with a solid landing. Speed was okay. Needs more expression.

Tiny jumps. Nice camel spin combo with a back catchfoot position. He needs more height on his jumps stat! Nice combo spin to finish.

Nakata’s jumps: high 4T! 3A+1Eu+3S, 3F then 3Lo both had smooth flow out, 3Lo+2T, 3T pitched forward, 3T+2A a bit shaky.

ETA: 148.80 in FS, 222.35 - both are ISU SB/PB!

Rio's looking gassed at the end, but most of that was beautiful, including the opening quad.

Nakata

There's more choreo in the opening movements than several of the past programs. Calm 4t. 3a-1r-3s. Step up in quality big time. Basics are quite passable, but not to the Japan-exemplary level so hope he keeps working on those. Fun cantilever. Coherent thematic piece and elements are well-integrated into program.

Ebihara’s jumps: 3A hard fall [eta: < in protocol], 3Lz+3T, 3F, (missed how he fell after spin?), 3Lo, 3Lz+2T, 2A+3T, 3S.

ETA: 131.07 FS, 207.17 & he is thrilled he will medal in his JGP debut! :)

Ebihara

3a fall to start, jumps aren't carrying much speed on the landings, but are landed with correct position and good extension on free leg. Random fall. Good step sequence. I like the bones of the program, he can add more interpretation and feeling to the movement to give it more effect.

Not bad for Ebihara after the fall on the 3A. The spin got positive GOE, so they must have ruled that he fell after he was done, I guess. But of course that's 2 deductions, and his TES is already 5 points behind.

Was this Minkyu's first successful 3A? I think so, at least in international competition.

Oh. Boys.
First Nakata fell on his entrance jump after being announced AND tripped over the carpet on his way to the podium, then Ebihara didn’t know what to do with his bouquet, then Nakata and Ebihara’s positions had to be corrected by the photographers for the podium photos... But all three medallists looked relaxed and were joking around with each other, unlike the ice dance podium’s atmosphere, which was a bit more reserved. And Seo’s coaches made him put on a flower crown that matched his costume… Most stylish 14-year-old boy I’ve seen in a while.

Edit: Apparently the crown was made for him by a Korean fan:
