Their teams are such a treasure trove for skating fans - what an embarrassment of riches. SO ANNOYED that Mao has to skate junior again this year - what a stupid rule.

Junior Seigo Tauchi has moved to Toronto and is now being coached by Brian Orser.
Well that'll be fun! Thank god there are therapists out here now, in case I ever log back into men's skating.

I thought Machiavelli/Orser was going to retire after Milan though.

Chisato Uramatsu and Atsuhiko Tamura are a new Japanese dance team, training in Montreal.

This is sweet ☺️

Kao Miura, who has been struggling with injuries and has withdrawn from the recent competitions, posted a message on his IG:

"I’m able to do a more fulfilling training for the new season now!
I look forward to showing you my new programs soon!"

One of the first persons who left a comment was Ilia Malinin, in Japanese:

"Hang in there, Kao. 🔥🔥🔥 (You are) the best"

Hard to believe that Kao Miura did not receive “Special” designation from the Japan Skating Federation for the upcoming season. He is clearly Japan’s second-best male skater. Seems very strange for one of the favorites to make the Olympic team.

Has Mai Mihara retired? I've really enjoyed her skating and admire her so much for competing with her medical condition.

Sato's clearly Japan's second best male skater.

Not to take away from the oddness of the assignment.

Shun Sato is skipping this weekend's Summer Cup as he continues to rehabilitate from a leg injury.

Yuna Aoki will also miss Summer Cup due to an ankle injury.

Am I correct in thinking this is the JSF's unofficial NHK host spot selection comp?

AFAIK they take into account the results of other summer comps, too.

Rio Nakata had a good SP performance at JGP in Latvia.

At the All Japan Junior Camp that took place a month ago, Rio said he eventually wants to jump 4A. Mao Shimada said she wants to jump 4S by the time she becomes a senior skater.

Catching up on Summer Figure Skating Trophy..I love Yuna Aoki's La La Land FS..but..I love her skating sooo..

Yuna Aoki's FS at Tokyo Summer Figure Skating Trophy. She says this is still 40% of what she wants to achieve and strives for better.

Rio Nakata has been attempting various quad combo and post them on IG:

4T-3T
2A-4T
3Lz-4T
4Lo-3Lo

It kind of reminds me of Ilia when he was a junior skater, lol.
