Lombardia entries:

Great ice dance field. Green/Parsons are starting their season at Lombardia. Guignard/Fabbri, Reed/Ambrulevicius, and the Taschlers will also be there.

lol I can’t believe these weren’t already posted. I was the first to see the entries being up? The Mens field is a bit disappointing but I’m very excited for the other two fields

FWIW, Skate Canada's International Events / Assignments page lists 7 Challenger Series competitions: https://skatecanada.ca/events/#international

21-24 Sept. 2022 Nebelhorn Trophy Oberstdorf, GER (pairs)
29 Sept.-01 Oct. 2022 30th Nepela Memorial 2022 Bratislava, SVK
05-09 Oct. 2022 Finlandia Trophy Espoo Espoo, FIN (pairs)
09-13 Nov. 2022 Icechallenge 2022 Graz, AUT
17-20 Nov. 2022 Warsaw Cup Warsaw, POL (pairs)
07-10 Dec. 2022 Golden Spin of Zagreb Zagreb, CRO (pairs)

USFS' International Assignments page lists the 7 above plus Lombardia Trophy and Budapest Trophy (13-16 Oct. 2022) in Budapest, HUN - 9 total.

Not listed by either Skate Canada or USFS: 26-29 Oct. 2022 Denis Ten Memorial Challenge Nur-Sultan, KAZ

Note to @4rkidz who posted this on July 30 in another thread (Canadian Ice Dance news):
I thought 4CC wasnt in Australia anymore? Or is Skate Canada not aware or updated?
Skate Canada has since updated their International Events page.

no canadians?

Based on the international competitions page on the Skate Canada website where they list athlete assignments, it looks like Skate Canada is planning on sending skaters to the following Challenger Series events (at this present time).

US Classic
Nebelhorn Trophy
Ondrej Nepala Memorial
Finlandia Trophy
Ice Challenge - Graz
Warsaw Cup
Golden Spin

Lombardia was not listed this year.

No changes to US Classic entries.
Le sigh. It seems our whole upper tier is out and/or not ready yet. Well, at least the less experienced U.S. teams will be getting plenty of CS experience.

So, thus far, no scheduled CS yet for Lajoie & Lagha, Fournier-Beaudry & Sorensen, Hawayek & Baker, Chock & Bates, Green & Parsons, Carreira & Ponomarenko, Wang & Liu, or Gilles & Poirier. I know it wouldn't be a surprise for Chock & Bates and Gilles & Poirier to wait to compete until their home GPs, but it seems like the teams below them would try to get out there and take advantage of the more open field and early season to work out the kinks. Typically, it doesn't seem like the higher-ranked North American teams sign up for Nepela. (Of course the Russians are out this year so that will change the dynamic there). Finlandia tends to be popular as it's late, but certainly not all of the MIA North American teams are going to go there at the same time.

Wang/Liu have only been back in Montreal about a month, CarPon are coming back from his surgery, Chock/Bates and GilPoir both got back to their rinks for serious training only in the last 6-7 weeks, and we know that GrePar have recently made a major coaching change.

USFS plans on sending entries to Nepela - maybe we'll see HawBak there. There's also Budapest Trophy, but I can't see any teams that have SkAm as their first GP competing there also. It wouldn't surprise me if the USFS did something like this for the remaining Challengers:

Nepela - Hawayek/Baker, Brown/Brown
Finlandia - Chock/Bates (that's where they made their debut last season), Ling/Wein
Budapest - Carreira/Ponomarenko, one of the teams that has only one GP & one Challenger right now (Bratti/Somerville, Pate/Bye, Cesanek/Yehorov)
CS Austria - Ling/Wein, one of the teams that winds up with only one GP & one Challenger
Golden Spin - Zingas/Kolesnik, one of the teams that winds up with only one GP & one Challenger

As far as Canada goes - I think we're likely to see a similar distribution with their top 3 - my bet would be on Fournier Beaudry/Sorensen going to Budapest Trophy since they don't have their GP debut until France. LajLag and GilPoir both start their GPs at SCI, so flip a coin as to which team goes to Nepela and which one goes to Finlandia. I'm a little surprised Fabbri/Ayer and Makita/Gunara haven't been assigned to any Challengers yet.

Wang/Liu - their GP debut is NHK, so they've got plenty of time before they need to show at a Challenger (if at all).

Budapest Trophy isn't on Skate Canada's calendar of international events, so I'm not expecting any teams there.

Perhaps C/B will wait for SkAm - they don't need the points from a challenger and they're one of 2 world medalists on the whole circuit this year (versus last post-Olympic season where there were 4, there were also 2 Olympic individual medalists then too). I think if they've started late then they may as well debut looking super polished.

It would make sense to send Gr/P to Finlandia but their withdrawal from Lombardia is strange. Is it linked to coaching change? Because if so, then why were they put forward for it in the first place? My guess is that they got feedback at Champs Camp that suggested they needed to make some changes and don't have time to sort them before then.

Depending on the way things shake out in the GP, I'd send the best team to Golden Spin as it's a good opportunity for a gold (maybe an option for Gr/P who have a more difficult route to GPF than H/B)

Ehhhhhh... GuiFab might not have a worlds medal yet, but I consider them at least on par with GilPoir, and both of them maybe a teensy notch just below Chock/Bates, in the ice dance pecking order.

That was my thought as well when I saw they'd been removed from the Lombardia assignments today.

Oh, I forgot about them no longer having a Challenger (duh) since they were withdrawn from Lombardia. Golden Spin could be a good option for them, especially if it shakes out that one of Bratti/Somerville, Pate/Bye, Cesanek/Yehorov & McNamara/Spiridonov wind up with a 2nd GP assignment and don't really need another Challenger for points.

Fear/Gibson are down for 3 challengers now. They usually compete quite a lot but I wouldn’t be surprised to see them withdraw from one or two - otherwise that’s potentially 8 competitions in just over three months.

I'm really happy for Alena Budko to be making her senior international debut! She competed at Golden Bear in Croatia in advanced novice 4(!) years ago and has narrowly missed qualifying to nationals at least a couple times over the past few years, so it's nice to see her persistence and dedication pay off. :)

Exciting! Gamez/Korovin of the Philippines are FINALLY scheduled to make their debut! And Smirnova/Siianytsia have been assigned - guess they must have just not felt quite ready after Champs Camp to debut at Nebelhorn. Mokhova/Mokhov and Plazas/Fernandez are also listed, but neither team is listed on the USFS Int'l Assignments page, so they aren't confirmed yet.

Green/Parsons, Hawayek/Baker AND Ling/Wein for the US in ice dance!

Lindsay Thorngren! Kiibus, Gubanova, Yelim Kim, Haein Lee, Mikutina, van Zundert, Taljegard, Paganini - good mix of top & mid-tier women.

Heh - Morisi is entered for the men. We'll see what kind of shape he's in (if he shows up). Shaidorov, Litvintsev, Levandi, Mihhail Selevko, Junhwan Cha, Shmuratko, Majorov, Nordeback!
