Did Bychenko say anything about retirement yet, any news I might have missed? Of course, I want him to go on and on and on....

Here are Bychenko's transcribed quotes to the ISU immediately after his Worlds FS:

I am really happy! This season was hard, there was a lot of stress, a lot of preparation, and what I did today is not exactly what I expected but anyway I fought for every element. There were mistakes on triple Axel, but I think that it was caused by pressure to skate last in the group, maybe I was tired. Anyway I am very glad with my result. Each season I try to beat my previous result and this season to be at least at top seven at Worlds is great, I am really proud of myself and my team. My bowing before getting off the ice is first of all is gratitude to spectators, I just don't want to get off the ice, I always to stay there longer after the competition what I cannot say about the time before the competition (laughing). I really enjoyed every second on ice.
(on further plans) I don't know yet if I retire, I think about it. First of all I need to take a rest and then we'll see but basically I think that I plan to retire. Actually while I perform as a competitor I also work as a coach in Israel, I coach in our team and work with pairs, singles, with juniors, with Americans, Chinese, skaters from Taipei. I have been doing it for two years and I really like it. It was my dream for many years, since I think I was 15, I want to continue my career in figure skating as a coach.

Does anyone know anything about Anna Vernikov? Where did she come from, (or is she home grown)? Has she done pairs before or is she a singles skater? What were her past competitions results?

I'm assuming it's the same skater who placed 6th in Junior Ladies at (U.S.) North Atlantic Regionals this season. I don't think she has ever competed pairs before.

Should someone start a poll on how long this will last?:shuffle:

Too bad Paige Conners doesn't want to compete in singles.
We don’t need a poll on how long it will last. It will last one season.

Any news about Paige Conners? I hoped that she would find a partner and beat Krasnopolski at the nationals (and take the spot for championships, while Krasnopolski stays at home).

Ella skated at Golden Spin this past weekend and withdrew after the short. Not sure how that bodes for this weekend.

So in the end I went to Holon last Thursday, came during "Advanced Novice" girls and saw all our juniors and seniors.
There were uncharacteristically too many people at the boards (like 5-6 photographers, those who sell photos to parents afterwards, didn't notice anyone from any media outlet) and invited guests (like a few people from Israeli NOC, I think I also saw mayor of Holon there), Boris was too busy so I didn't manage to catch him for a talk, I just briefly exchanged words with Irina Chait. She told me Paige wanted to continue with her education and didn't want to commit to a full Olympic cycle. Adel Tankova also left (retired?).

concorde, you were right, Ella didn't take part in the competition in the end. Six other girls did. Among them Alina Soupian really stood out for me (and she won, which was quite obvious). Based on her profile she is from St.Peter and is coached by Veronika Daineko:

Her programs this season from ISU channel:

Nelli Ioffe finished second, I liked her too, nice lines, feels music.
Her ISU profile is quite empty, but I think she trains in Hackensack with the rest of the team:
http://www.isuresults.com/bios/isufs00103642.htm

Alina and Nelli took top 2 places at Golden Spin this season (I wonder if they had two Israeli flags ready this time :D )

Victoria Uschenkova, Alina Uschenkova - it was the first time I've heard about them, quite possibly they are Israeli very "recent acquisition", one of them finished third, don't remember which one, sorry. :)
Aviv Acco and Maya Gorodnitski had quite disastrous skates, I'm not sure I've seen even one triple from any of them.

In ice dance we had two junior couples. Brother/sister Nosovitsky I remember from last year, they look much better this year, he grew a bit taller, she became thinner and more gracious.
Their ISU profile, they train in Hackensack with Galit:

Their dances this season from ISU channel:

Alice Rogatnik/Yehor Barshak finished second, but I liked them more. Never heard about them before, I guess they are "recent acquisition" too.
Their ISU profile, if the info is correct and updated, they train in Kiev:

This season's dances on ISU channel:

Hailey Kops/Artem Tsoglin are our only junior pair.

Don't know why they didn't take part in junior GP, maybe he was still recovering from last year's injury? They looked much better than the newly baked senior pair. Can't wait for them to move to seniors already. I see that at Volvo Cup they were still competing in juniors, but at Golden Spin they already were with seniors. Maybe they will go to Euros this season? Don't know... we'll see pretty soon I guess?

In seniors we had one lady only (Alena Ryvkina), I was quite unimpressed to tell the truth, not sure how many triple she did in end, not many. Senior pair performed only one program (their SP? but during free skates on Thursday), so they didn't get a diploma and a medal. I think they only started, looked very "raw" to me.

Shira Ichilov/Vadim Davidovich moved to seniors this season. I liked them more last season, maybe because they had really interesting free dance with the music choice which stood out (Yasmin Levy's "Me Voy"). This season they have "Notre Dame" which is a bit blah. Considering that Nosovitskies also have "Notre Dame" for their free dance and both couples are coached by Galit, one might wonder if the CD with "Schindler's List" was lost :D. They used different songs from the CD, but the combinations they took and the cuts were not my piece of cake in both cases.

Mark Gorodnitsky competed both in juniors and seniors this season, here he competed with big boys and finished third, not far from Alexey (got ~234 if I remember correctly). Daniel Samohin won with 243.56 points overall and Alexei Bychenko finished second with 237.24 (I didn't write down points for any competitor, but luckily Israeli NOC site had their results). Daniel tried quad (toe if I remember correctly) but fell, and tripled quad Sal. Alexei didn't try any quads and didn't have even triple-triple combo. Both had two triple Axels, I think 3 out 4 were not good though. (Sorry, I can't really concentrate on jumps when I'm taking photos).

I will post selected photos on Absolute Skating Twitter and an album on the site at some point between now and Euros. :)

Update: found video of Krasnopolski-and-partner on FB of the ice rink

This was the first time that I came to Israeli Nats a bit earlier and saw part of our novice skaters too, including Ivetta Berkovich. And first time I learned how the coaches of the skating school in Eilat, Sergei and Julia Sheiko, look like (at Nats they didn't have skaters older than Advanced Novice). I even thought to approach them and ask for an interview but in the end was too busy, maybe I'll do it later.

I did remember Ivetta and Nikita Sheiko from their performances in galas they usually have at the end of Nats. Talented and very artistic kids, and they get better every year I see them, count me as their fan.
This year my friend took video of their EX performances (quality is not really good, sorry):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bNrTks2DCZI
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y4BfRS46bww

This season they both won Volvo Cup in their respective categories:

Ivetta's performances there (couldn't find Nikita's video):

Skating School Eilat has an official FB page if someone is interested:

And here two young winners of Volvo Cup were invited to Israeli TV with their coach Julia:

Btw Julia is also Israeli ISU Technical Specialist in singles:

Tsonglin is on ips. Perhaps wanting to follow in krasnopolski’s footsteps?

Tsoglin has been injury-prone, and he's on the shorter side for a pair skater. It's possible that he needs to find a relatively petite partner. Guess we'll have to wait for the inevitable Instagram updates...
