Is there any skater who you think is likely to sweep the upcoming quad

Kaetlyn is certainly inconsistent with her long program, but she is very reliable short program skater. If she skates her short in Italy exactly as she did in the individual, she will magically get 80+.

Agreed about the short program and I’m hoping that she’s finally got that long program tamed. Then again she was working to peak for the Olympics so who knows. I always find a Worlds after an Olympics is so unpredictable - I really don’t know what to expect. Do we even know if both Russian Ladies will be there?

I am heartbroken for Miyahara. If anyone deserved a medal this quad, it was her. She was at an extreme disadvantage compared to the other girls and she worked harder than anyone, developed her artistry more than anyone, and gave two of the best skates of her life. I don't know if she will try for 2022 or not, and she may be surpassed by others even if she does, but I would never count that girl out. She's a good one.

Especially when in the pre-long program practice, she did a 5 jump combination and skated over to her coaches with a big smile to tell them what she'd done.

I keep forgetting that Bradie is 20. I think of her as a 16 year old, probably because of her programs. I am sure she can work on her presentation.

I think of her as a kid, too. Probably because she skates to Cinderella.

I don't think any skater will dominate the next quad. Injuries probably will make that impossible.

I think Tennell can improve her artistry somewhat but I never see her being a world beater. She is just a consistent skater, and even that who knows once she has some pressure on her as we saw at the Olympics. Jumps are usually steady and good, but not great, and the Russians and many others still have higher base values than her. PCS unlikely to ever be great. If she gets a medal at worlds someday it would be a great success for her, and even that would surprise me a bit.

Only Papadakis/Cizeron. Maybe Zag. Pairs and especially men are too volatile.

One thing to remember is that no country has ever had 3 straight gold medal winners except Norway. Not even the U.S. And that wasn't a federation thing, that was a personal thing with Sonja and her desire to do whatever it took to win.

The other countries eventually gang up on someone who has too much success. I don't think Russia will dominate ladies this next quad even as a country, let alone one skater.

I think the most likely by far is Papadakis/Cizeron, especially since they lost the OGM by such a slim margin unless the tides change for whatever reason and P/C are no longer seen as simply above and beyond everyone else. I also think if a Russian team became the "it" team, then they'll have the judges' support to challenge P/C.

They have some promising men, and even Kolyada still has a lot of untapped potential to be a threat if he sorts out his mental game, and they have numerous promising pairs. I dont even see any particularly promising Russian teams coming up, I wouldnt be surprised if Stepanova & Bukin are their top team this quad which isnt saying much as at best they might have a Bobrova & Soloviev like career.

Some people were convinced that Stepanova/Bukin would have won the bronze in Pyeongchang. I'm not one of those, but I do wonder if they or another promising team would provide enough contrast to P/C to be a challenger (much like D/W did for V/M from 2011-2014).

The biggest issue with Stepanova/Bukin isn't their skating right now. It's whether or not they can participate in 2022, if the IOC decides to keep up with the very strict rules, to as they said "clean up the sport once and for all", they said it's going to take years. Because if Bukin isn't allowed to participate in Beijing, they might get dumped by the fed. What would be the point of investing money ?

I'm with @VIETgrlTerifa I did not see them in Bronze at this games, but maybe top 6 ? But with a strict panel their Rumba pattern might have been an issue (even though it got better), plus the technical on step sequences. But they can challenge for a top 5 at Worlds maybe. We'll have to see if Shibs and C/B go first because I have no idea.

To me, no. To figure skating ? This is the most important title. In some countries you can have it without the rest it's fine. And it's political for a country like Russia who was "banned" from those games. They'll want them all now.

Love them or hate them, the Olympics are what the top athletes strive for. World championships are important, but the Olympics are considered The peak of an athletic career.

Yan Han!! Really want to see him at the top of his game again Will remain positive that he can bounce back.

On a side note, I don't think Nathan is that unbeatable even when clean tbh. Boyang and Shoma have pretty good tech scores too (though obv not comparable) and their PCS scores are rising too.

There will be so many contenders in the men's field - glad we live in such exciting times!
