In Memoriam

i wanted to say something about this remarkable woman. She has the site The Green Bird Brigade and I would consider her a bird whisperer. Her name is Jen and she started rescuing birds a fews years back. Also a few years back her only child, a son, was killed in a plane accident in OshKosh when he was flying with a friend at the festival there. Jen doesn't speak about it but instead pours her time into these varied and marvelous birds of all shapes and sizes. They are so much fun to watch and to see how Jen cares for them.
Today she lost Aurora, one of her larger birds and also the most gentle of any of her birds. Aurora had pancreatitiis. Anyway here is Jen and sweet Aurora.

Another musical loss this week was Ruth Slenczynska (gifted NYTimes link). She was the last living student of Rachmaninoff, a child prodigy in the 30s who also released an album in her 90s. Her story is one of overcoming abuse and childhood trauma to create a life in music on her own terms.

Thank you for sharing this story. I’m sad that I’ve never heard it until now, but I’m listening to her last album now and plan on purchasing it. 💜

Daddy was a monster. I wonder how many child prodigies are promoted by a monstrous parent in every arena. I'm glad she was able to find some peace in her life once he was out of the picture. RIP
