In Memoriam

I loved Sophie Kinsella's books. Good old romantic comedies. It wasn't until I read her latest, expecting another beach read, that I found out about her struggle with aggressive brain cancer. It is called "What Does it Feel Like." It is a heartbreaking read. I am so sorry for her family and I will miss her novels that always made me laugh. And on that note, if you have only seen the Shopaholic movie, go read some of her books. That book was given the Hollywood treatment and like so many others it was ruined.

I downloaded and read it today. (Short book but as you say @ilovesalchows heartbreaking)

As she acknowledges in that book, she really was the Queen of happy endings.

I only read about 3 of her books because I found the “happy ending” style she had rather repetitive.

I think I have ready every book of hers. Loved most of them because they made me laugh and laugh and laugh (most of them, especially SHopoholic and S Takes Manhattan, Gets Married, etc

Arthur Cohn dies age 98. R.I.P.
He won a total of six Oscars for his productions. He received three awards for documentaries, including "Only Sky and Dirt" (1962), "American Dream" (1991) and "One Day in September" (2000). He received a further three Oscars in the "Best Foreign Language Film" category, including for "The Garden of Finzi Contini".

OMG! Will this weekend never end?! Loved his work! Gone but NEVER forgotten. Hopefully the police will soon find those responsible so they can rest in peace.

I know they had four children and I'm assuming grandchildren as well. How awful. RIP to a wonderful filmmaker and his wife.

OMG. Tony Geary died? Nooooo!!!!!! He and Tristan Rogers are both gone now. So sad. They really were part of GH's "Golden Age," IMO. RIP, Luke Spencer. You will be missed.

As a side note, yes, rape was handled much differently on soaps in those days. There were some actors who found it deeply disturbing, too. I seem to recall that Roger Howarth ("Todd" on One Life to Live) stopped doing personal appearances and interviews almost altogether, reportedly after hearing some young female fans yell, "rape me Todd!"

Luke and Laura - the ultimate rapists' defense in a rape case.

Defendant Lawyer: Women enjoy rape, they fantasize about being raped.
Prosecutor: what is your evidence that this is a true statement?
Defendant Lawyer: Luke and Laura story in the 80's. Ratings were through the roof

Yes, I watched THE WEDDING.

I know that's the role he was known for. Another one of my age group gone
