This might be a terrible idea and has my permission to be deleted. But I think of the different "In Memoriam" lists we see from time to time and it might be nice to have something here. It can be someone well known or someone well known only to you or even a beloved animal. Anyway the person who died very recently is Vangelis. I knew little of his music but his theme from "Chariots of Fire" is unforgettable. RIP.

RIP Vangelis

One of my favorite compositions is Hymne from the Opéra Sauvage album.

Bad day for music: Alan White, drummer for Yes (and for a lot of other projects like the Plastic Ono Band), passed away, and so did Andrew Fletcher of Depeche Mode :(

Ray Liotta had so much presence on the screen. I remember in "Friends" when Rachel (?) describes some guy "He looks like a non-scary Ray Liotta"
RIP

I actually met White when Yes (in it's latest post-Anderson lineup) toured through Canada, and I secured a meet-n-greet pass. Must have not been in best health because they had a side drummer who accompanied him, and on a couple of songs, took over while White sat it out. What a career, running over half a century. RIP, sir.

I met him once in another band's backstage room. He was in town with Yes and had dropped by to catch up with some old friends in the band. He was completely unassuming and very low-key, even though I am sure there were people at the other band's gig who would have been chasing him and screaming if they knew he was in the house.

He was living near Seattle - I think his wife is American and he moved here to be with her and her family.

I first saw Ray Liotta in Something Wild while in HS. Always liked him.

And gutted about Andy Fletcher :fragile:

Apologies as this one is a few weeks late: Dr. Morton Mower, a former Maryland-based cardiologist who helped invent an automatic implantable defibrillator that has helped countless heart patients live longer and healthier, has died at age 89. RIP

And this one as well: Computer scientist Stephen E. Wilhite – who created the GIF image format back in 1987 – died on March 14 at the age of 74. His wife Kathaleen R. Wilhite said his death was due to complications from Covid-19

Ron Rice...grew up poor and lived in the mountains. He also had fair skin. He experimented in his garage and came up with Hawaiian Tropic Suntan lotion. He died last week at 81. RIP.

This is probably too depressing to put in the good news thread so I will put it here. The young Murder victims known as “Babes in the woods” have been identified approximately 75 years after they were killed. They were identified back in February. Their names are David and Derek D’Alton. May they Rest In Peace.

How awful—and they were never reported missing? Poor boys.

The actor Philip Baker Hall as died at the age of 90. He has a prolific resume in film, tv and stage with many memorable roles and I think most consider him a dramatic actor. But I remember his turn on "Seinfeld" as the public library "detective." Funny is hard to do to and he nailed it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D9tP9fI2zbE

RIP
