A great explanation about the new rules changes by Jackie Wong in the debut of IceTalk 2.0. But, I really don't understand why the necessity for ISU to change designation of half-loop to 'euler.' Does anyone know why the change, and what the term, 'euler' is derived from?

I enjoyed the interview with Madi/Zach, and I especially appreciated hearing the reminisces by Carolina Kostner and Gracie Gold of their friend and former training mate, Denis Ten. :saint:

The Euler name did not come out of just anywhere. Though the exact skater who named the sport is unknown, the roller skating community has always referred to the half loop as an Euler, and pockets of the figure skating community have as well.
But in parts of Europe, the jump isn't known as a Euler or half loop at all. Instead, it is known as a Thorén, after Swedish figure skater Per Ludvig Julius Thorén, who won the bronze medal at the 1908 Olympics. The jury is out on if Thorén might get his turn on the score sheet in the next Olympiad.

I believe the term derives from that Scottish pop group, The Bay City Eulers. and maybe those Australian hard rockers, Midnight Eul.

Unless I missed it, he didn't talk about the individual level call for the man and lady for twizzles, and is it also for all footwork sequences, or only the one-foot segment, and is that something new too?

Yeah, Jackie did as best a job as he could in a brief summarizing way. He admitted that he could not cover every new rule change. :)

Of course you're correct - he did a great job and I learned a lot. I just wish he'd had more time to explain those things I mentioned too because I'm not clear about them and Jackie has such an easy to follow way of explaining in everyday language.
