I Have Got to Stay Out of Sephora (and other glamourpuss issues)

Oh, I forgot why I came in here. I am considering getting a full leg and bikini wax and this seems to run about $115 in Omaha. Is this normal? It's been so long since I've had it done that I don't know if this high, low or average.

PL, Sephora sells a home hair removal laser, Tria (also an anti-aging one).

Bikini only, here is up to $38.

I have a snark about this but even I am too reticent to post it.

Does the tria work? I am just finishing up 6 sessions on my bikini and all of the hair grew back. I have thick dark hair, pale skin, and no hormonal changes, so I am supposedly the "perfect" candidate. Hrmph.

I've had excellent results with the in-office hair removal laser & Tria anti-aging laser at home. What setting did you use, fan?

I asked the technician to crank up the setting - probably near the highest. I'm wondering if I just need many more repetitions?

I am not sure, fan--you do sound like a great candidate. See if you can get a complimentary consultation from another practitioner. You should see some results after 6 sessions.

What does the home hair removal laser feel like? Does it hurt?
I would guess it's unpleasant but I've only used the anti-aging Tria and am just on the 1st setting of it.

my waxer is i think $60 or $65 for bikini and at least that much for the full leg and i'm grandfathered in at 1945 prices

i have a tria. i dont think it hurts. it's like a little pin prick, more annoying than painful. it works so i dont care.

The anti-aging one, mlp? It really does work, even at level 1.

Help! I've got a mani pedi appt this afternoon. It will be cold and raining and I won't be able to park nearby due to holiday parking restrictions. I'm half thinking to switch to a gel pedi, but I'm not sure if I want my toes the same for a month and don't like the removal process.

Is 45-60 minutes enough time for the toes to be dry enough for shoes? Should I plan on light socks, or will that make it worse?

In cold weather my salon let's me dry for about twenty minutes and then gives me plastic baggies to wear under my socks. It works. Take 2 sandwich bags with you.

PRLady, besides the baggies or Saran Wrap, ask them for a drop of oil on each toenail, baggies on top.

well, I am not VIB, so I only got 10% off. I decided to just reorder some Clinique moisturizer and eye cream, and then try out the Clinique chubby contour stick. We will see if it will be too orange for me. I do love Clinique stuff.

I kinda want to try the the Clinique pop blush and new pop lipsticks, but I ordered online and didn't want to go there to check out the colors. and I really have enough makeup, right?

I'm home, safe and sound, with intact light turquoise toe nails and a shimmery pink shellac on my fingers. I was tempted to get sunny yellow toes, but the weather kind of put me off that mood. Next time.

For the sephora sale, I got a refill of my beloved Clinique Take Off the Day cleansing balm, a refill of my Ole Henrickson Nurture Me Facial Cleansing Cloths and a special treat for myself.....a Becca shimmering souffle face blush. I chose the Lychee one. I ordered online so I hope I like it.

The VIB sales goes through tomorrow and my mobile app tells me I have 648 points. I think a visit to Sephora tomorrow after work with Mini-Mac (who is busy today) is in order.

PML! I think patchouli is liquid hate.

Only in the hands of peons. Your friend Monsieur Ellena knows how to mix it, as do the good people at Jo Malone. Have you tried Elixer Des Merveilles from Hermes and Pomegranate Noir from Jo Malone? Good stuff with patchouli.

Liquid hate patchouli based perfumes include Angel (all the devils in hell wear Angel), Jessica Simpson Fancy Nights, Coco Mademoiselle, and that Jimmy Choo stuff which smells like rotted flowers and athlete's foot.

Oh, I forgot about Joy as a penultimate old lady scent. Apparently, smelling like the fecal aspect of jasmine was not enough-It was made to evoke a lady....who peed in her pants a little.

Add anything Estee Lauder with the exception of the Sensuous line, the Elizabeth Arden abominations, and anything Chanel, even if it smells good (Coco). and you have a veritable retirement home roster. Though I must say I know quite a few older ladies who smell fantastic.

My Angel wearing co worker is leaving on Friday for a new job. Calloo! Callay!

I can live with well-placed, synthetic, subtle patchouli in the same room for a few minutes. Pomegranate Noir is interesting but not something I'd wear. Des Merveilles is less merveilleux than Ellena's other creations. Natural patchouli makes me want to climb into a space suit

Jimmy Choo came close to actually knocking me off my feet.

Ah, the Sephora sale. I loaded up on my new fave skincare line Omorovicza (loving the Thermal Cleansing Balm especially - so luxe!) plus a ludicrously expensive SKII face mask because I read that Pat McGrath swears by it and I figures she knows :)

I must've made the Sephora gods happy because I got an email saying I had locked my VIB status through the end of 2016 :shuffle:

re Chanel scents - to me, #5 smells like Raid. But I still really like Cristalle (summery, non flowery scent) and am simply devastated that the shower gel is discontinued. I occasionally enjoy #19 as well.

Other oldies - I wouldn't wear the perfume but I'd love to get my hands on Emeraude bath products just for the nostalgia factor, and the other one I remember fondly is Jontue by Revlon. I am mad for the original Miss Dior Cherie, because I swear it smells just like Just Call Me Maxi, so when I wear it I feel ultra sophisticated but also the giddy anticipation of heading to a high school dance :)

I don't wear it anymore, but I did like the original Chloe scent. I remember reading a rapturous essay in Vogue and saving all my pennies to buy it as a teen, and eventually it was the scent I chose for my wedding day.

Following up on discussion about under eye circles, can't recall if I heard it here first but if so thank you - the new Clinique Advanced Concealer is really, really effective. Goes on rather thickly at first so you need a light touch, and it dries quickly so you have to work quickly, but it's worth the effort.

So, @PRlady --the Clinique lipsticks are going back tomorrow. First, they dry out my lips which is weird, either I or their formula have changed. Second, the Pink Goddess color ages me in the daylight (you know how everything looks better under those Sephora lights) and Pink-a-boo looks exactly like my hefty sample of the Tarte lip gloss in Orgasm, the same pink with gold flecks. It does look nice and sheer and flattering for my complexion but I don't need two of the same thing.

Better Than Sex mascara isn't, but it's quite good. The black is a very intense black, which I like and the lashes look good. Lets see how hard it is to get off tonight with the BiFacil eye make up remover.

I ended up not going. Guess I'll have to get my next fix of cosmetics at full price. :D But I'm going shopping tomorrow for a dress and shoes to wear to my niece's wedding this weekend.

i went to sephora to test contouring pens. they all looked orange on me. grrr.

I really don't get contouring. What if I am happy with the contours of my face?
