Glamour Puss thread: Sephora, I wish I could quit you...

Has anyone used Poshmark? I went on there looking for a particular pair of Veronica Beard pants (and found them, for a reasonable price) and now I, uh, may have a problem. Help me.

Also, I discovered an awesome make up remover: Holy Hydration! It removes everything. I was having a difficult time getting my Erase Paste (Erase Tape?) concealer off, but this stuff just took it right off. Also, my skin feels amazing after using it. Highly recommend! (available at Target as well, which is where I picked it up)

Oh, I’ve been curious about poshmark. I’ve been a little scared to investigate much though. Seems like something that would cost me a lot of money :shuffle:

I needed a few things at Sephora. Through the 28th, VIB members can use 1,000 points to get 15% off. Since their rewards mostly suck, I was happy to use them.
I used 500 points to get $10 off online recently too.

I am just going to keep doing that as often as possible as soon as I get 500 points built up.

I tried to get my birthday gift online and it said I had to also buy something! I am not happy about that.

Got my stuff today, 48 hours after the order. I’m very happy with the KVD lip stain n Lovesick. It looks very natural and doesn’t transfer to my masks. I already has Bow ‘n Arrow.

I am having a weird experience with blushes.

I am very pale now because I haven’t had a vacation since 2019 and I haven’t self-tanned.

So all the blushes I have here that I thought were kind of “meh” on me  now look fantastic on me and the ones I usually love are just “meh.” :shuffle:
Just wanted to update that it is now August and I have been outside some during the summer (using sunscreen) but have a slight tan and my blushes have all reverted back to looking normal again.

I use the same colour blush (a mauvey plum) all year round cuz I am pale all year round.

I just had a huge scare. The GE lighted makeup mirror that I got for Christmas when I was 17, and have used nearly daily since, shut itself off unexpectedly. It‘s ok, just needed a few minutes without power. I’m thinking that a currently manufactured replacement won’t last 50+ years, but neither will I.

Oh my god. So I saw a sale online and read that Wolford Neon 40's are the most durable and comfortable tights. Since they were on sale I bought a pair. They ARE so comfortable and they survived my fingernails just fine. However, when they say "neon" they really mean neon! It looks like I borrowed Beyonce's legs.

Too bad because they are the most comfortable tights ever. Not too thick, just the right texture and denier. But as I said, Beyonce's legs ...

A coworker, who is eccentric to say the least, told me today that she buys makeup based on what packaging looks good in her drawer and if it matches the other products she has…..not based on what works on her skin or looks good on her.

Seriously?!?!?!

I don’t give a crap what the packaging looks like if the product looks nice on me and works.

Does she keep things in their packaging? Because I throw the packaging away. 🤷‍♀️

I do admit, if I have a choice of two essentially the same thing, I'll go for the one in the pretty container. (Not the packaging.)

I don’t know if she throws away the outside packaging or not.

She said she turns down recommendations from salespeople of what might look good on her or work for her skin type to purchase what looks good in her drawer.

I too like pretty packaging but that’s just a bonus. It’s more important that the product works.

Yikes! All the excellent pro quality makeup like RCMA and Mehron are all in plain packaging. Give me those any day over pretty packaging.

Going full on tiffed tonight, minus the pumps. DH chose the fancy steak place for his birthday dinner, so I have an excuse to get dressed up. Well, not too dressy, this but with black boots and maybe a scarf. And full face, of course.
Love it ♥️ I tried to buy something very similar this week and mr millyskate protested and said I wasn’t that old :drama: which makes even less sense when he convinced me to buy dungarees
Enjoy wearing the beautiful dress.

I think the sack dresses work well for most age groups. The key is the tights and footwear. I’m (ahem) older, so I go with black or gray and more formal footwear. You would rock it in printed tights and tennies!

I have been buying and selling on Poshmark for about a year now. My daughter is into Cottage Core so has bought quite a bit on Poshmark as well.

I find the buyers are legit, the descriptions are pretty good. We had one girl who I feel didn't represent properly the size of the items since the dress meant for my size 0 daughter actually fit me a size 12 lol. And I've had a couple of tops that once arrived I found a bit too small for me - which makes me wonder if the original seller had the same problem. So it is definitely hit or miss.

Got my sale on first thing today, enough to keep VIB for another year. Just the basics… Dr Gross, Tanluxe, Clinique cleanser, MUFE mascara, and a few minis. They have a nice Kiehls set for 500 points, so I finally spent a few. IMO, the Kiehls was worth more than a $10 credit. I still have too many points!

I ordered my stuff too.

I avoided buying eyeshadow, blush and highlighter as I have enough right now.

I got a Smashbox foundation. am pretty desperate for foundation and decided to retry the Smashbox.

I had this before and really liked it but didn’t repurchase as I couldn’t get the best shade match. They have since expanded their shade a lot and I think I found a good match for me this time.

I also got my Clinique cleansing balm, and a Laneige lip sleeping mask and gloss (all staples for me.)

Finally, I picked up a Sephora Favourites clean cosmetics collection that has 6 or 7 different deluxe size products to try.

I don’t have many points as I use them up pretty quickly with selecting the 100 point perks rewards.

For those of us who rarely wear makeup, do you guys have any suggestions on how to keep it fresh so you don't have to buy a whole new set every time you use it? Like I use makeup maybe 1x a year or sometimes less and you are supposed to throw it out after about 6 months or so. I don't throw out the eye shadow ever unless it goes bad (i.e., can't get it to go on the eyes smoothly) but my foundation always goes bad in between uses. Can you refrigerate it?

I know some people do store makeup in a fridge but I’ve never done it so I can’t speak to how much longer it lasts, if any.

If I were you, I would look for a good powder foundation.

Powders can last 3-4 years or longer with no issues.

Good suggestion. I have two Clinique “Almost Powder” compacts that are now branded “Superpowder”. One lives in my purse and the other in my travel bag. I just checked the oldest one and it’s at least 5 years old and still great. I keep the plastic insert in to avoid contamination from the sponge and swap the sponge for a clean one every 6 months or so. It’s a bit matte for my taste, but does the job when I need it to.
