Glamour Puss thread: Sephora, I wish I could quit you...

@once_upon Essence and Catrice are EU brands owned by the same company. Most of their products are made in Europe: Italy, Germany, Poland, Luxembourg.Their limited editions are often made in China. I have been their customer for over 12 years and they have been improving so much and have a wide palette of products.
What makeup products are you looking for and what do you like?

Does anyone think they pull a similar trick in stores? Stash away things during the sale?

I had my heart set on these two creams, had talked myself into them on the condition they were 20% off :(
I was able to locate the items I wanted in a store nearby. Are you saying your local stores are out of the creams too?

Well urban decay discontinued their razor thin eyeliners :wuzrobbed both @PrincessLeppard and I used them.
I like their mascara and lash primers. I use their foundation. I like their Vice lipsticks.
I use Ole H truth serum and moisturizers.

We’ll remind you!
I need Tan Luxe The Butter. It better be in stock next week. And I need summer weight moisturizer with SPF. Makeup... not so much.

I need to find a good self tanner -- I've never used one. I'm blond with blue eyes, but I tan -- so i end up with several different sleeve marks on my arms and sock marks on my legs, etc. Will this help even out those tan lines (not dramatic, but noticeable) or will all my skin just be a little darker?

So key is to wait 6-8 hours before showering and wear clothes that you don’t mind staining while your tan develops. Then shower and apply mineral oil-free moisturizer.

Also, exfoliate well before applying self-tanner.

Right now I like the Tan Luxe drops but YMMV

That’s my primary use... to make the lines less noticeable.
The Butter doesn’t seem to transfer much. I just apply every day until my feet and upper arms are the same color as the rest of me!

Has anyone been doing beauty boxes? I've been getting some lately and man, it's hit or miss, but when it hits, it's gooood!

I tried Clinique's new foundation and it was nice but the color was off. I finally found my perfect foundation match, MAC's studio waterweight in NW13, but it made me itch and I'm so bummed about it!

Well it happened again. Suddenly in the Rewards Bazaar you could convert 2500 points to $100 (VIB Rouge only). Not a great deal, but a hundred bucks is a hundred bucks and at this rate I'll never get anything else. Threw it in my basket and was about to come here to let everyone know, but by the time it got to my basket it was sold out, and now it's no longer on the site. They update Tuesdays and Thursdays, so I'm going to check again first thing Thursday.

Still haven't bought anything because while one of the two high ticket items I wanted is back in stock, the other one isn't, so I'm holding out in hopes of getting the other one too. I note some basics also going in and out of stock, it's like a game of roulette.

Grrrr....frustrating. I hope you get that reward.

I can buy starting tomorrow and two of the things I wanted are out of stock.

I think I’ll stick to skincare purchases.

I just made my Sephora order.

I stuck to my word and only ordered the Drunk Elephant LaLa Retro Whipped Moisturizer and the Lippe Balm.

I scored some Drunk Elephant rewards (eye serum, hydra B serum, bronzini) in the rewards bazaar. :cheer2:

Of course, this means that I now have to take back all the harsh words I said in an earlier post about how crappy the Rewards are....

Wait what’s the rewards bazaar?
I ordered Olaplex and some eyeliner and didn’t get anything about a rewards bazaar :fragile:

That’s where you go to redeem your points for deluxe size products/kits/free makeovers etc.

It’s where Jenny was trying to redeem her points for the gift card.

The website usually will prompt you at checkout to redeem points if you have accumulated enough to redeem them.

The minimum redemption level is 100 points.

Well I placed my order, still missing the one high ticket product I really wanted, but hubby's out of his face scrub so on with the show.

Watch it magically reappear after the sale is over. If I can ever snag the points-for-dollar rewards, that's exactly where it's going.

Hope others are getting what they want!

37 weeks pregnant here - is there anything that actually works on stretch marks once the baby is born? Bio oil did not prevent them. Boo

Mederma, which reduces the appearance of scars, worked for my stretch marks as well. It’s not cheap but it’s OTC in many pharmacies.

I will invest in some when I’m better. My stomach looks like some sadist has been playing checkers on it.

Sadly stretch marks have more to do with genes than anything else. But be reassured, they usually fade pretty quickly after giving birth.

Can anyone recommend an eyeliner that is not a hard pencil that you need to sharpen (I like the "automatic", twist-up types) and that is not waterproof or "long wear" (b/c it's impossible to get off, even with makeup remover)? I used Estee Lauder for years and then they discontinued it and then I found LaPrairie but that was just discontinued too. :wuzrobbed

My favorite just got discontinued, too. I bought some MAC eyeliner in little pots, but I haven't tried it yet because my allergies are nuts and eyeliner and mascara are pointless at the moment.

I will keep you posted, though.

I've been using the IT No-Tug Waterproof Gel Eyeliner:

I really like these eyeliners a lot. They're easy to use and last quite a long time. They are the twist-up kind. And they do go on pretty easily. Not too expensive, either.

Have you tried it on the lower waterline? How is the staying power? Still looking for my lower waterline holy grail of eyeliners

Staying power seems pretty good. It doesn't seem to smudge much, and I have never felt the need to reapply later in the day. But, that said, I am not a big makeup person, LOL. I just like to use a little eyeliner to give my eyes more definition. I only use it on the upper lids, so can't speak to the lower waterline question, unfortunately.

I feel like I end every day with a black smudge under my eyes. The Tarte mascara is the best one I’ve found with the smudging.

I barely ever use eyeliner (and only on the top lids) but when I do use it, I use the NYX automatic pencils.

The quality for the price is very good.

They stay on my watery eyes and are not difficult to remove.

Stila makes some really nice ones too but they are long wear and harder to remove and about 2.5 times the price of the NYX ones.

I used to love the Marc Jacobs genius gel eyeliners.

Total budge-proof liners but because I don’t wear eyeliner much, they would dry up before I could use them up.

Just wanted to pop in and say that I have been watching a lot of YouTube videos of the discounted high end makeup that you can find at TJ Maxx and Marshalls.

Some of it looks awesome. For example, many of the holiday 2018 releases are there now at 1/2 price or less.

The stores are the NY area look particularly stocked.

Anyone who has a TJ Maxx or Marshall’s near them may be in luck for good deals.

I have the Canadian equivalent near me (Winners) but it’s not nearly as good as what I am seeing on YouTube.
